Well, this account that I found on another forum should answer all your questions:

Murnau's silent classic, screening at the Royal Festival Hall with a new score played by the Philharmonia Orchestra. Fantastic film although I wasn't too impressed by the score. A bizarre evening - it was a "Royal premiere" in front of (as far as I could gather) King Constantine of Greece. So in the posh seats were a load of people in black tie etc. The screening was introduced by Hugh Grant (the well known Murnau expert!) who is a friend of the composer. He cheerfully admitted he knew nothing about the film so had looked it up on Google , and had agreed to do the introduction when he was drunk. As you would expect he was charming and witty and managed to get in a joke about Andy Coulson and David Cameron (as an example of a Faustian pact).

I once hosted an event in 1993 in which Jonathan Ross (that well known Benjamin Christensen expert) introduced Häxan.

It came about because we'd invited a load of local celebrities to choose and introduce a favourite film, and Ross cheerfully admitted that he'd completely abused his position by picking a film that he hadn't actually seen, but had wanted to for years (this was long before the Criterion DVD made it easily accessible). Google wasn't around then, but he brought along a copy of the Time Out Film Guide, from which he read the review. I don't recall any complaints.

Some details:

Murnau, a perfectionist, shot multiple takes of each scene with only prime takes making the final German domestic cut of Faust. Only the prints made for export outside Germany were seen until recent times; indeed this version was at one time thought to be the only version (it used discarded takes, errors, less impressive special effects, and human stand-ins for real animals). Using the nitrate duplicate negatives printed by UFA in 1926 (and an array of international sources) Murnau's favoured domestic German version of Faust has now been meticulously reconstructed by Luciano Berriatua for Filmoteca Espanola from which this newly restored transfer is sourced.

It looks like extras that will be carried over from the DVD, but hopefully the "more details to be announced" will mean some new supplements.

From the list of extras above, we're losing the entire export version of the film that was on the 2xDVD set! It only mentiones the domestic version. I had originally assumed that the new release would be 1xBlu-ray & 2xDVD, carrying everything over from the DVD set, but from the above list they're presumably intending to drop the export version and make it 1xBlu-ray & 1xDVD?

The original DVD booklet was 28-pages, so there's probably a bit more material going in now.

It will be 1 x BD and 2 x DVD - the DVDs will be the same as our, now deleted, DVD edition. The BD will include the export print, plus some stuff that isn't on the DVD.
