When I looked at that list of extras last night, I thought that it had to be a joke. If it is, it's funnier than anything in the movie (which I thought was pretty funny).

I'm sure a good chunk of the extras are jokes, but some of them seem crazy enough to be true. But yeah, I doubt we're looking at a seven disc release.

I'd say a lot of those are jokes, but I DO hope we get those different views (because they sound fun), and some decent commentary and documentary work, which I think we can expect. A packed two-disc affair would work for me.

But yes, I laughed at the idea of Rupert Murdoch barking away at me.

I accidentally posted that very link last nite without reading it all the way first, thank god for Moderators who removed it within like ten minutes of me discovering my mistake. It is 100% fake, and the site it's hosted on is actually an anti-Simpsons site (at least newer Simpsons), so in case there's any lingering doubts that a misspelled John K and Bill Watterson were involved in the DVD, or Harry Potter spoilers being included...

So true. Now I feel like I've been hit by an electrified fooling machine!

Saw this tonight and I have to say I was pretty disappointed. As much as I wanted to like this, the best jokes were in the trailers and were funnier in that context than in the film. The entire movie felt like a few recycled Simpsons episodes (three-eyed fish + Bart & Lisa become foster kids + every single episode where Homer disappoints Marge) and pumped up for the big screen. But for me, the laughs were few and far between. Just a lot of dumb slapstick, a few cheeky references to classic episodes and that was about it.

What a golden opportunity the writers had to revitalize the franchise, really satirize and parody North American culture, politics and religion (like they did in the first ten seasons), but instead they stay the steady, safe course the show has been travelling the last decade with all the diminishing returns included.

To me, the perfect Simpsons "movie" was the "22 Short Movies About Springfield" which was far funnier in its twenty minute runtime than this barely over one hour exercise in a cash grab. I would say everyone involved should be ashamed but the Simpsons had already become everything they made fun of a long time ago.

I believe the "Bart The Murderer"/Goodfellas comparison is, by accounts of the creators, just a coincidence.

Hey, maybe if this flops Disney'll put the franchise to sleep for good. Certainly it isn't an auspicious omen for the movie to exist in part because "we need a summer tentpole and the Marvel won't be ready"

Almost exactly 20 years after the first film, which is more than the time from the series premiere to the first film, and also more time since I last watched the show. Deep in my heart I still want it to be good, I did like the first one
