Was it
Unforgiven that started the trend?

It's not quite the same thing, but The Exorcist does feature the full character from the back look.

It probably goes without saying, but the poster for THE EXORCIST is an actual image from the film itself...and it's a brilliant design choice. Just looking at posters for recent efforts like THE LAST EXORCISM, one can imagine if Friedkin's original was released today we'd see Linda Blair in full make-up as the main poster element...perhaps with her back to us as well as her head!

I finally scored a couple posters I had been looking to get for a while and at a good price. Now, I need to get them linen backed in preparation for framing, but my online searches only served to confuse me even more than I had been. Does anybody have any experience or recommendations for good and reputable linen backing, preferably in California? Also, can anyone tell me if there is a big difference between Swiss and French posters as far as their collectibility? Both came from Switzerland but seem to be identical to the French posters.

Oh my, the Let the Right One In and Moonrise Kingdom ones are really lovely. I like the Blade Runner and There Will Be Blood ones as well, but they feel like they're drafting off the looks of the respective movies to a greater degree.

Well, fuck - I should've looked at this sooner. Though I am tempted by the Kill Bill one that's still in stock, that sold out Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind one is gorgeous.

Yuup
Note if you decide to order a print, Bottleneck Gallery was all radio silence for the better part of three weeks before finally shipping mine, so patience will be key

The black backing/frame is yours, right? You only get the print itself?

Correct, I bought the frame off Amazon. No black backing though:

Lovely. LQ didn't agree, however, so we won't have the same print adorning our wall.

Yes, those Cuban designs are great. I bought this one in Havana a couple of years ago, it's hanging in my hallway:

I've found and downloaded 124 posters of mostly unknown Cuban, Soviet, Romanian, Bulgarian etc movies.
All Cuban beautiful designs. And the strange The knack, Red Desert and some known film.
There's an Argentinian website who sells originals, 500 dollars each. Not reproductions, originals. You the Americans, can travel and find originals in La Habana or wherever. I hate to fly and heat kills me.
I'll upload all this weekend.

Actually you can't fly to Cuba from the USA.

Unless you have family in Cuba. Then you can.

Anyway, spite all those Cold War stop traveling and stupid barriers, it's a good business to travel to La Habana and buy.
I bet after Fidel's end, Cuban posters will be hipstered and became as cool as Polish or Checoslovacos, quite expensive now.

I've uploaded all in two parts (the 1st is the link you know with 50 or 60 new posters).
Note the anti US propaganda and design Puerto Rico, pro Vietnam, etc. US flag are the chains for Puertoriqueños.
Bleached brains with lots of Cuban documentaries, and those strange and unknown Eastern films but They could watch 1 Szabo (Apa, Padre) 2 Wajdas, several Kurosawas, 1 Anthony Mann, The pawnbroker ! Moby Dick, even Spanish films but no Italian "red" or liberal French. Strange.

Or if you are going as part of a cultural exchange/tour. My brother and his wife are visiting Cuba in October, though I'm not sure what the particulars are on how they were able to arrange it.

I've heard that you can travel to Mexico and fly from there.
