davisdvd.com reports Warner will release the complete BRISCO COUNTRY JR. on DVD which will retail at about 100 bucks.

And that's too bad about Arrested Development.

The 'Bits has anounced The Simpsons Complete Eighth Season (concensus in other threads leads one to believe it is the last good season) two days after the ides of August.

I'd say it's definitely the last great season. Season Nine has its moments off and on, so I'd characterize it is a "good."

For years, I thought I had hallucinated this, but on August 1, Sony is releasing the 1985 TV version of Alice in Wonderland. A vital part of my childhood introduction to high camp, the cast is to die for. Its release also fills a vital hole in the director's oeuvre; it'll fit snugly between Remington Steele and Jake and the Fatman.

And for those of you not yet aware (all both of you), Arrested Development's final season will be released stateside August 29. Big TV on DVD month for FOX.

The greatest drama series in American TV history gets the deluxe treatment

Great news! Homicide rocks! Andre Braugher was the reason I'd tune into this show! (Now who wants to sell me their old sets? )

Maybe this should go in the Fox sub-forum, but I've got just a simple question about the X-Files DVD sets.

A major guilty pleasure of mine, so I'm now slowly collecting the sets. The Second Season set, however, has really bad picture quality. I mean, awfully murky and soft. This only makes the non-progressive transfer look worse. Did Fox change anything from the old (expensive) sets to the new (cheap) ones? Is the picture better on the $99 sets?

Also, I noticed they were forced to put the season's last episode onto the last disc, along with four other episodes. In the expensive box it's on a bonus disc with the extra features. This must mean they needed to compress that last disc pretty heavily. Has anyone compared the old and new versions. Just wondering.

i'm pretty certain that they are the same transfers and audio. with a lower price tag, i doubt fox would clean up the transfers. and they are cheaper because they don't have the bonus disc, so if you're that big of a fan (rightfully so), you might be interested in tracking down the OOP sets.

I'd buy every season if Gillian Anderson was nude or at least scantily clad.

Ah, yes. Steve and Eydie as Tweedledee and Tweedledum. Am I misremembering, or did Sammy Davis Jr. have a particuarly awesome song as the Caterpillar? Maybe I'm confusing it from when Brooke Shields was Alice on The Muppet Show.

Ok, so the transfers are identical, but I'm pretty sure I remember the last episode of season 2 being on a 7th disc with the extra features. On the new set it's crammed onto the 6th disc.

I don't remember too much about Sammy's performance, other than his incredibly awful fakie British accent; although, you may be confusing it with Sherman's Hemsley's (as the Dormouse) heart-tugging rendition of "I Hate Cats and Dogs."

I picked up the Venture Bros DVD set, and it may have the most unfunny extra material ever made. Fine show though (Colbert doing his "Mr Fantastic" is worth the price alone). This new season has really improved upon the last one. It's one of the few shows that I really get excited about seeing (downloading for free) once a week. Anyone else having a blast with these new episodes - IGNORE ME!

Yeah, I only started watching regularly with the second season and am totally into it. I got the DVD set and thought a handful of the later episodes were extremely funny. I particuarly liked "The Trial of the Monarch", but also "Are You There God, It's Me, Dean?" and "Ghosts of the Sargasso." G-g-g-ghost pirate!

The show just keeps getting better. I think a couple of these guys were involved in The Tick cartoon, which was great because of the creation of a superhero whose only power was that he was really sarcastic. Truly a figure to be feared by his unlucky and debased enemies.

The Addams Family original TV series finally sees its way onto DVD but not without some reservations.

I can't recall if this was mentioned before, but Trey Parker and Matt Stone's short-lived sitcom, That's My Bush is finally getting the DVD treatment. Extras were announced today:
