That's exactly what I was thinking. It's just differing opinions between reviewers.

The only thing the US blu-ray review doesn't mention is the "Lambs To The Slaughter" episode, which is on the UK blu-ray.

Different sub and dubs, so not the same disc.

It appears, out of perceived order, that The Birds will probably be next as the preorder seems to indicate. I do wonder what extras they will add to it. I'll be glad to finally dump my VHS copy..

Any good speculation/information on what is next after NxNW and Psycho?

I assumed. Those are standard first day purchases. I don't know if I am excited for that or hoping from something I feel underrated (but I feel equally great to those titles) like Shadow of a Doubt or Dial M for Murder.

How easily can old 3d movies be retrofitted for new 3d technologies? I'm guessing that'll dictate when Dial M for Murder will be released.

Vertigo, Rear Window, Shadow of a Doubt, and Warner's Dial M for Murder blu-rays are listed on Amazon, but they're not available for pre-order as yet, however, The Birds is. No release dates, so don't hold your breath.

Contrary to what most people believe, older 3D movies weren't done in anaglyph (the red/green glasses), it essentially works the same as it does now, so they'll only have to scan in the two films, join them together, and that's about it. Since only one of the "eyes" is used for the regular version, there might be a chance that the other one is in worse shape, but I wouldn't know.

I'll believe in God as soon as I have a Blu-ray of Trouble With Harry in my hands.

I saw a theatrical presentation of DIAL M FOR MURDER in 3D back in the early 80s and it looked very good at the time. Hopefully, the elements haven't deteriorated too much since then.

I saw it one year ago at the festival of Rotterdam, and it looked very good.

Universal is releasing in October this boxset called Alfred Hitchcock: The Essentials Collection which is essentially another reissue, but the interesting thing here is that they are including Warner's North by Northwest in it. Is these the first time these 2 companies have worked together to put a boxset? If so, why the hell don't they release an ultimate set that would include all Universal and WB Hitchcock film?

Makes me wonder what's going on with the other Hitchcocks from Warner Bros...
I guess this is okay for casual Hitch fans, but seriously? Not Blu-Ray? And those discs look exactly the same as what's in the Masterpiece Collection so I wouldn't be expecting anything new from this set.

The Oliver Stone DVD boxset had Warner/MGM/Universal titles together, the Mel Brooks DVD set by Fox had Blazing Saddles, so it's been done before.

Just why is this DVD box necessary? Where are the BD reissues? Psycho is still the only from from Universal

Someone at Amazon says he wrote Universal about The Birds on Blu and they told him they have no plans to release it.
Whether or not this is true, that they haven't already put out most of their biggest, steadiest-selling catalog titles on Blu by now seems stupid beyond belief.

So has there been any indication that these will be available separately at some point? I already have Psycho and NxNW and only want to add the Birds, Rear Window, and Rope (maybe Marnie)....I can't believe they would lock these up in a giant overpriced box forever. or would they?

Too bad there's not much of a price difference between it and the other UK set at this point. If it has cases instead of slots, like I'm hoping their Universal Classic Monsters set will have, just might have to bite. Interesting that both sets are due out on 10/1 over there.

What is the rationale for selling 2 boxsets in the UK and what really is their difference other than the packaging? It appears that the large square black box has the discs in slots on the book pages, which could turn out to be a scratch problem, but I haven't seen confirmed anywhere that the other box either in the US or UK has cases. And while the format of the respective books obviously is different, it's unclear to me whether the content will vary.
Does anyone have any more info on this?

I'll be ordering this new, smaller U.K. set myself. Not only is the cover art much better (no giant COCK), after VAT is removed it is about $100 less than the U.S. set.

That appears to be the case. Since I've already got the nice Warner digibook of North by Northwest that I didn't want to get rid of anyway, it's a better set all around. At around $9 US per film you can't beat it!

Is there confirmation that it's region free outside the Amazon listing?
