I like the pulpy flavour of the Monsters and Madmen set. Looks a bit like a collage of original poster art, despite that not being the case.

The Monsters and Madmen cover reminds me of some of the animation I've seen in conjunction with The Venture Bros. cartoon show more than the two artists mentioned above. In fact, I was almost sure that there was a connection, but after taking a look at a couple of episodes via DVD I can't place it so maybe it's just a similar style.

I think I understand your POV and more than likely agree with you. But, this makes me wonder... in twenty years from now will people look back and think Saw, Scream, and I Know What You Did Last Summer are classic teen horror movies. God I hope I've left the planet if that ever turns out to be the case.

Saw isn't exactly a teen slasher pic (and I personally thought it was an excellent film), but I think I see your point. Anywho, I doubt people will see Scream or IKWYDLS as "classic" teen horror movies, but maybe as "formative" or something like that. Ya know, like they set the standard for the (abysmal) quality of teen slashers in the mid-to-late nineties and beyond. Or they might just look back on them as dumb but funny to watch and lampoon MST3K style. Ya never know.

Why would it bother you that they are including an extra disc? Since they have audio commentaries, they would be $39.95 anyway. Putting the docs on a second disc allows them to max out the bitrate on disc one, and it isn't costing you any extra.

A real long time for Tomine, I imagine. He probably won't be drawing so much anymore: his eyesight is nearly gone. One of the greats, too.

He's still doing regular illustrations for the New Yorker, though. And he can't go blind until after he does the cover of my novel.

Dammit. That would have been the perfect pairing. How much would it cost to commission him to make a one-off design for personal use? Cause if it's under $20 I think I can swing it.

Yea, but compare them to Pickpocket and Virgin Spring, both loaded with additional audio tracks and doc's / interviews, and their both single disc and look/play great. You are right about the bitrate, and since the new look/case's are great in digipack 2disc sets, my complaining will come to an end.

Where are you all getting the idea that these are two-disc releases? I don't see anything on the website confirming that.

They are single disc releases, only two disc release is buying them both together in the slipcase for 69.95 slightly annoying since I am Curious was a 2 disc slipcase and was 39.99. Oh well, I'm willing to pay 50$ US for both of them in excellent transfers.
