got this at the hollywood video sale a few weeks ago and watched one and two today for the first time today

one was excellent
two wasnt as good for me. i didnt like the way michaels character went. he goes from a guy trying to avenge his fathers enemies in film 1 to a wife beating douche by the end of the 2nd movie

and from the reviews on the third it doesnt look like its getting ne better. altho if u took the dinero scenes from film 2 and made it its own film itd be 5 stars easy

I just finished reading the book behind these true crime events. This is bound to be a great movie. I'd already have to say that Damon will make a perfect Whitacre, lighting the candle at both ends. This is going to be a fun movie!

I may be a little biased (so I'm giving this 5 stars)and even though I have not seen the movie yet,I'm from Decatur so I followed the story as it was happening from beginning to end. I was also lucky enough to be in Decatur while they were filming and Matt Damon and the rest of the cast were incredible!! Can't wait for this to come out!

THE MOVIE

I haven't watched a movie this tediously boring since Spiderman 3. I rented this because the reviews promised comedy greatness and video transfer greatness. My wife and I found Playtime plotless, magicless, comedyless. We almost couldn't finish it. Obviously many people love this film, but it's just not an experience to my taste. In the end, am I glad that I at least gave it a chance? No. I wish I could go back in time, read my own review, and then netflix something else.

THE BLU-RAY

It's a 40 year old french film shot on 70mm. Maybe this is what a "5-star" transfer of a really old movie looks like, but it only looks average compared to a 5-star transfer of a modern movie on blu-ray. The video quality doesn't even come close to The Dark Knight imax sequences or something like Baraka, which was also 70mm but fantastically impressive. This might be the best this movie has ever looked, but it doesn't have any wow-factor. Any good dvd, upscaled to 1080p, looks equal to and sometimes better than this blu-ray did on my 50" plasma.

As an adolescent, I would have particularly enjoyed the abundance of minge and norks, but alas now I have moved on to more graphic things.

I should have paid attention to the year this was made, its a silent film which starts with people already together talking and you have no idea of what's going on. Horrible, I would have given it a half of a star if I could. Don't waste your time.

Like any good movie, Over the Top delivers a deeper and more satisfying experience than its superficial plot line might otherwise suggest. As it appears, Over the Top is an arm wrestling movie, a by-the-numbers rags-to-riches, true underdog tale of one man's strength and courage to overcome the odds and prove that he's more than the world believes him to be. On a deeper level though, Over the Top delivers heartwarming Drama that works its way both into the arm wrestling plot and the audience's heart. A true 80s movie that features one of that decades biggest stars and delivers the tried-and-true message on the positive attributes of a character's courage, personal faith, and determination to better his life as only he knows how, Over the Top represents one of the lesser-known little gems of the 1980s and features star Sylvester Stallone (Tango & Cash) in one of his best roles.

I’ll never understand why people ooh and awe over the so called classics. Old movies are filled with two types of acting: over and bad. This western had both in spades. Add to that having to endure so called “night” scenes with noon day shadows and landscapes clearly shot in Arizona and Utah, even though everyone is referred to as a Texan, and you start to question if renting anything before 1980 is a good idea. At two hours, this movie felt like three. Embarrassing stereotypes and racial slurs were rampant. I rented this because it kept showing up on people’s favorites list. People are clearly stupid. Rating: D

My husband made me watch this, it was ok, long, but ok. The entire movie I kept thinking Daniel Day Lewis was channeling Sam Elliot (Mask with Cher) and Tom Selleck, and he sounded like Sean Connery..like he has rocks in his mouth..really took away from the movie, trying to understand what he was saying and what accent he was trying to imitate.

This was a waste of time and good money. It's the same as before just larger characters. There were no special effects or anything that made it worthwhile. It's no different than the original. Big dissapointment!!

If ur a pervert you will like this movie. Totally tacky....lol... Old, fat, nasty men pawing at skinny chicks with stretch marks and a teaspoon of boobs is gross.
