Amazon is now listing Au hasard Balthazar and Mouchette on DVD and blu-ray with April 29 release date. No word if they are planning to use manicsounds's great design for Balthazar blu-ray cover.
Fantastic. Amateur, finally!
2013 is becoming one expensive year. Scratching a lot of celluloid itches though.
I only wish AE was doing the same for their Claire Denis films. One thing at a time, I guess.
Incredible news! So happy to see the back of the old C'est La Vie DVD of The Unbelievable Truth, and ecstatic that it will be upgraded to Blu no less. I've held off buying / seeing any previous releases of Amateur and Simple men so I'm very excited to see them for the first time in such great shape. Let's hope an upgrade of Henry Fool and Trust follow along fairly swiftly.
bigP, if you are region free, there's a very good new blu of Trust from Olive Films. I'm just as psyched as you that Hartley's ouevre has gone from zero to four blus in the first half of this year. His work is seriously underrated, especially in the context of other American Independent films.
I had completely let Olive's release of Trust slip past me. Thanks for the heads up Warren, I've just put in an order on Importcds. I'm region free so no worries if it does turn out to be locked. I've been meaning to pick up Microcinema's release of Surviving Desire too, so I guess now is as good a time as any, have you picked this up by any chance?

Microcinema's Surviving Desire is a good release remastered and produced by Hartley's Possible Films. He sells a number of titles directly from his own website, including his new shorter feature Meanwhile, but I don't know what rules they may have about shipping overseas.

They've no problem at all with shipping overseas, though I've not had a chance to watch my copy yet. Have heard it's a fine release of Surviving Desire, as warren oates mentioned.
I'm a bit miffed I haven't even gotten around to watching their recent Unbelievable Truth, though certainly not to be getting it on Blu so quickly. I agree, it's odd the comparatively little recognition he's gotten as a filmmaker, and he's still making some really good films too. Really looking forward to checking out Meanwhile.
Blu-Ray of Holy Motors came in the mail today. I was surprised to see that the case was not standard Blu-Ray case that AE releases normally have, but rather a green tinted Amaray one. Is this the standard case for the film?
I seem to be having some trouble with the Holy Motors Blu-Ray on my player. My Blu-Ray player is a Region A Panasonic one that I normally use a simple remote hack to play Region B Blu-Rays on (stop, press "1", enter). The Blu-Ray plays fine, but for some reason the subtitles aren't showing up. When I try to access the subtitles from my remote, it won't let me. Is this a result of the region locking issue, or is my Blu-Ray defective?
The easiest answer is hopefully the right one here. I remember about a month ago someone mentioned that some players have difficulties reading fading subtitles and you have to play around with the setting to get them to come up. If I find that discussion I'll try to link it here.
Edit: Here it starts.
See, when I go to access the subtitles from my remote, it says that they are turned off. When I scroll over the area to turn them on, it does not let me, as if there are no available subtitles on the Blu-Ray.
