Is there any reason to believe that Unbearable Lightness of Being will be coming back in print and will be upgraded or Malle's Atlantic City will be coming to Criterion?

Atlantic City was one of the 600 or so Paramount titles licensed to Warner. So don't count on seeing that one anytime soon.

Nobuo Nakagawa's The Ghost of Yotsuya was on Turner Classic Movies the other night and had a Janus Films logo. Would make for a good Eclipse set with some of his other horror films.

Just noticed The Ghost of Yotsuya is on the HuluPlus channel so I guess it is a given that it might come at some point.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Paramount/WB deal strictly for distribution of DVDs/Blu Rays and not for control or ownership of films? It's not like WB's ownership of the pre-1986 MGM titles. So, if Paramount wants to license a film to Criterion, WB has no say in the matter.

You are correct in that it was a distribution deal for physical media only and not like their acquiring of a portion of MGM's catalog. However Warner gained exclusive distribution rights for those Paramount titles beginning Jan 1, 2013 until Jan 1, 2016. So as long as the deal is not extended, we could potentially see some of those titles licensed to Criterion beginning in 2016. The article does say that Paramount has maintained control of 100 titles. I would bet that there are a few of that 100 that are getting licensed out to CC.

There are still quite a few Paramount titles that remain OOP and have not shown up with Warner. The Tenant, Day of the Locust, Is Paris Burning? and Don't Look Now are all likely candidates. The last of which has been pretty much confirmed now. I'm sure there are a few more that I'm forgetting.

Some time ago, it was widely believed that Criterion were planning a Blu-ray release of Karel Reisz's 'The French Lieutenant's Woman'. But I haven't heard anything further about it since then. Does anyone know whether it is still in preparation?

For whatever reason, I had a dream about Criterion announcement day a couple nights ago (surely a sign of some kind of psychosis) and the one title that stuck in my memory was Me and You and Everyone We Know. So I'll guess that. Hopefully it wouldn't have the horrendous royal purple cover I saw in my dream.

My only guess is another Chaplin, as we are way overdue for another one, with my specific guess being either Limelight or The Kid + Shorts. I believe The Kid was on the New Years 2013 drawing, so that one obviously got delayed from their original schedule for it.

The theatrical run hasn't even finished, yet, has it?. What's the shortest ever time between a theatrical run and a Criterion release? Must be a short list.

I believe the Rossellini-Bergman trilogy was announced when Journey To Italy was still playing at Film Forum.
