It's already confirmed as coming via Mondo Vision.

Going by IMDB in the past, it is a highly unreliable source. While at it, their new advanced search page really sucks.

GF and I were discussing the confirmed upcoming releases (yaysnowstorm), and if this list hasn't been shuffled...
Walkabout BD
Red Desert DVD and BD
M BD
The Secret of the Grain DVD
Vivre sa Vie DVD and BD
Summer Hours DVD and BD

these are getting officially announced with release dates on either Jan 15th or Feb 15th.
... then May is going to be phenomenal.

I asked Mulvaney about Zulawski about a year ago -- he said no. And yes, it seems Mondo Vision will be releasing the majority - if not all - of his work, and they're doing a stellar job.

Looking at Criterion's homepage, Stagecoach seems confirmed for Blu-ray (if it wasn't already).

Nobody disses Mondo's digipaks around these parts.

I wonder, with even Flicker Alley apparently working on a Blu-ray edition of something or other, if Mondo might be considering a Blu-ray of Possession, given that it is Zulawski's most widely known film. I'm sure that if Criterion were releasing it, they'd go for it.

But that's a subject for another thread.

Good news if true. I know nothing about the film but I've liked everything by Zwigoff that I've seen. Even Bad Santa I thought was a great comedy and that seems to be his film that has had the most mixed reviews.
They could do an awesome double disc set and sneak some bollywood into the collection by making Gumnaam a supplement (the flick the addictive Jaan Pehechaan Ho scene comes from)!!!

I don't know if you've seen Gumnaam, but if you haven't and think it will be as entertaining as that music number, you might be disappointed. After the night club scene, it turns into a ho-hum take on Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None (aka Ten Little Indians). I think a short documentary on the playback singer Mohammad Rafi would be more entertaining as an extra, especially if they did it in the style of That's Entertainment by showing a bunch of great musical numbers from the films he sang on.

What are the chances we might get Vanya on 42nd Steet? the Sony disc has been OOP for a while now...I have no idea who actually owns it - but it occurred to me as a perfect fit for Criterion.

Yeah...I haven't seen the film, but did read up on it after the popularity of the clip and it sounded fairly pedestrian even for Bollywood. I like your idea a lot better though...It would be cool to see more of that kind of stuff - I probably watched that clip 100 times in the months after I first bought the original dvd.

Not sure if this has been posted already, but the Criterion site is advertising a John Ford Retrospective right now, and in the description appears to be confirmation that Stagecoach will be available on Blu Ray: "The first installment of this multipart celebration of a singularly American auteur will run from February 6 to March 29 and feature twenty-two films, including a certain Monument-al western coming soon in Criterion DVD and Blu-ray editions." I know most assumed this would be on Blu, but I hadn't heard it was definite yet.

I think the closest confirmation to a Stagecoach Blu-ray prior to this website statement was a vaguely positive response on Facebook.

Eric Skillman posted a just-approved cover for one of the June titles, but without the title.

I have no idea what it is, but I do like the cover art.

Vadim's Les liaisons dangereuses is the only other ski lift-y film I can think of that Criterion might be interested in

The fact that the guy is hanging from the ski lift implies that its a pretty big part of the film, probably a notable action set piece. I really have no idea what it could be.

Someone on Skillman's blog suggested that it might be Where Eagles Dare. [Possible spoilers in clip]

Where Eagles Dare is a Warner Brothers title and very much in print. Highly doubt it.

Yeah I believe it's even rumored for a WB Blu-ray release this year.
