Already 2019 is promising even more. We’re thrilled to be releasing classics like Alain Resnais’s Last Year at Marienbad (pictured above), Jean-Luc Godard’s Alphaville, Joseph Losey’s Accident, Henri-Georges Clouzot’s La Prisonnière, Marcel Carné’s Port of Shadows, Jacques Rivette’s The Nun, as well as films by Jean-Pierre Melville, Carol Reed, and Alfred Hitchcock, all part of our new deal with France's preeminent media company StudioCanal.

Also coming from across the pond via BFI, we’ll be releasing three classics of British silent cinema: Underground, The Informer, and Shooting Stars on our Kino Classics label. Selections from our popular American Film Theatre DVD box set will finally be making their way to Blu-ray starting with an adaptation of Eugene O’Neill’s play The Iceman Cometh directed by John Frankenheimer and starring Lee Marvin and Jeff Bridges. We’ll be rounding out our collection of Mario Bava films with the release of two lesser-known genre gems, Knives of the Avenger and Four Times that Night. And we’re proud to have a trio of films by Tunisian master Férid Boughedir — Halfaouine, A Summer in La Goulette, and Zizou.

On the Kino Lorber Studio Classics front...

The year 2019 will bring exciting home video releases from the Universal library including Don Siegel’s Charley Varrick, Todd Haynes’s Far From Heaven, Douglas Sirk’s The Tarnished Angels, and several early Spike Lee joints including Jungle Fever and Crooklyn (pictured above). From MGM comes Hal Ashby’s The Landlord and a new 4K master of Mississippi Burning. Add to that Martin Scorsese’s Kundun, Preston Sturges’s The Great McGinty, Rian Johnson’s Brick, a 4K restoration of Cy Coleman/Neil Simon/Bob Fosse musical collaboration Sweet Charity, and a selection of beloved Ealing comedies with the inimitable Alec Guinness, and you’ve got a sense of the breadth (and volume) of the releases our most popular label puts out.

Re Clouzot would that not suggest that Le Corbeau and Quai des Orfevres will revert to Criterion ?

Carol Reed, I assume means The Fallen Idol. Which would mean that Kino didn't get Bob le flambeur.

The Great McGinty is a surprise since I assumed the Universal-owned Sturges films would eventually be released by Criterion. I wonder what the status is for The Lady Eve and for the other Paramount titles?
