Would love the 25th so I’m sure it will be like a week before
cursed. how dare they not capitalize on the release of
Night Moves?
I wonder why the expiration codes now

Because of people like me who save them up for two years and then stack them to get a box set for $10.

First time I've ever seen a expiry. A year from the Flash Sale. I've gotten in the habit of tracking them in a spreadsheet, otherwise I always end up going through 3 years worth of emails trying out codes unsure if I had used them.
I guess it's time for me to go back through all of mine as I'm sure there's probably one or 2 that I've missed. Most effective search terms to catch all?Criterion + coupon, Criterion + gift is what I've used, but maybe there's a stray bonus one (holiday, anniversary) I've missed.

I haven't redeemed a single reward at Barnes and Noble since they started their premium membership program and have almost $200 in rewards. my goal is that if Criterion release an expansive Ozu boxset, I'll walk and and get it for free with my banked rewards...so very much my strategy too. but hey, we're part of their system! I fail to see why not reward us

Tuesday. will line up with Godzilla and Chaplin, two beloved holdings of theirs. I believe I'm gonna be doing an all upgrade order -
Seven Samurai,
8 1/2,
Wages of Fear

I've bought Kurosawa, Bergman & Fellini main films so many times I'm contemplating holding out for UHD box upgrades for those directors.

FWIW, it looks like they're including sales tax outside of NY once again. I wonder if it was just a glitch last time?
Also, I just tag my Criterion emails with coupon codes. Makes life easier.

personally think you'll be waiting a long time on those. if ever. I can't imagine them upgrading Essential Fellini, Bergman is almost entirely 2K restorations, and then Kurosawa hasn't even had a large majority of films restored yet. not to mention the cost for such a box would be sky high
personally happy to buy these films repeatedly, since they're all favorites anyway

PSA: you can put something in your basket, go through checkout to the point where you choose your payment method, add the code, then just not place the order, and the code will stay on your account until used (or now, presumably, it expires).

I've been switching to BFI for my Kurosawa 4k upgrades, at least get a few different extras and a new section on the shelf.

If anyone's looking to buy The Seven Samurai on UHD for the first time, I'd get Criterion's, but there are substantial extras that are exclusive to either label so double-dipping may be worth it if you're a scholar or a diehard fan.

Criterion's edition has one useless disc though, the one with the main feature on blu-ray with an out-dated transfer, offering zero added value. I used to think Criterion sticks with the combo plan simply because they need a blu-ray to house the bonus material, and I've always seen the blu-ray disc in a UHD package as exactly that, with the main feature being there simply because it doesn't cost extra (and would've cost more if they were to press new bonus discs to get rid of it). But with releases like Seven Samurai, it appears they are dead serious about including an HD copy of the main feature no matter what.

Valid complaint, but for me it's not applicable - with dual format packages, I've never ever watched the regular HD presentation of a film and have always watched the 4K UHD disc. So even if Criterion did upgrade the picture on that disc for The Seven Samurai, I would never have known.

Apparently Monday, which makes sense. I think they usually space out something like a new release announcement and a flash sale so that they don't fall on the same day.

I don't feel like digging up old sale dates right now, but I think when they've done them earlier in the week/before new release day, usually the titles releasing that week have still been included, just nothing futher out past that.

I remember back in October 2016 they did it on a Monday and moved up the Del Toro release a day so that it was eligible

It’s a shame they prob don’t have Anora stock ready this early, they probably would have sold a ton of copies - whoever set that late April date must be kicking themselves

They were selling the Chungking Express UHD from the van last week at SXSW festival, so Anora is probably ready to go. It is shame they don't sell early on the website.

Wouldn't they rather get more from the people that can't wait until a June B&N sale?

The Blu-ray edition of Babette's Feast is back in stock after being listed as "Currently Unavailable" for a couple of years.

I just received an email with a second $10 off coupon, and confirmation the flash sale starts at noon ET tomorrow (not that there was any doubt).
