Huge. Kino released the two Fu Manchu films starring Warner Oland on Blu-ray a couple of years back. This, although unrelated to those two films story-wise, yet again has Oland reprise his role as Fu Manchu, but more importantly stars Anna May Wong in the lead role. It would be nice if this got a disc from Kino too.

MK2 Films 2025 Cannes Lineup Catalogue:
https://mk2films.com/wp-content/uploads ... s-2025.pdf
Includes lots of titles with 2K or 4K masters, such as:

Story of Women, Chabrol
Ulysse, Varda
Les Mistons, Truffaut
Several Resnais films
Several Kiarostami films
Several Demy films
Several Bresson films - Four Nights of a Dreamer is listed as available worldwide except US, UK and several other countries. I assume this means commercial rights. If I remember correctly, Four Nights has been shown in Restoration festival sections.

La fiancée du pirate, Kaplan
Some of the above might be old news by now.

This is currently making the U.S. theatrical rounds through Janus. I saw it last week and thought it looked very good.

Great news! I'd love to retire my dvd, as well as revist it as it was originally intended.

Now this will be interesting

...we've been talking about the correct workflow for transfers. I can't guess what they're going to do with this besides maybe get rid of some scratches and adjust the contrast or something. I guess Slacker has a brief pixelvision section, but I don't remember.

Autumn Leaves is also on the program but I don't see any notes on a new restoration, just that it's a DCP from Sony, whereas
Rain is listed as the 4k restoration done by VCI. I'd love to get a blu of this so I can retire my TMC dvd box, I've been wondering if music rights might be holding up an upgrade, but maybe Indicator was just waiting for the restoration to be completed and therefore didn't release it with
Harriett Craig and
Queen Bee.

Cockfighter got a new AMPAS print last year, but I don’t think it hailed from a fresh restoration. It still looked gorgeous. Shot by Nestor Almendros between working with Truffaut and Malick

Does anyone know who owns Motorama (1991) and why there’s been no HD release?

It seems to be that print. Jon Davison has been paying for all those new prints of Corman and Corman produced films that have been playing Los Angeles the last few years and they all look excellent.

Geheimnisse einer Seele, Pabst, 4K:
https://www.berlinale.de/en/press/press ... 70930.html
"The digital restoration of Pabst’s film was done using a combination of two 35 mm dupe negatives from the Cinémathèque Royale de Belgique/CINEMATEK and the German Federal Archives, as well as a 16 mm print held at the Harvard film archive. The digital restoration was funded by the FFE Film Legacy Subsidy Programme.
The world premiere of the 4K digitally restored version of Geheimnisse einer Seele (Secrets of a Soul) is a cooperative venture between the Berlin International Film Festival, the Deutsche Kinemathek, the Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau Stiftung, and public broadcasters ZDF/ARTE. The film’s television premiere will be on ARTE in May, 2026."

This one sure has a novel approach to scoring...
"...The acoustic music will be augmented by electronic sound — produced by the brain activity of the violist. The neural activity is measured and processed using fNIRS (functional near-infrared spectroscopy), which uses near-infrared light to detect changes in cerebral blood flow. The resulting data are analysed in real time with a machine-learning system developed by the aiar collective in Leipzig."
