That is the better poster. I have one signed by Spike.

It's actually a combination of two different posters: the original version just had the girl with the watermelon, which some theaters refused to display (the New York Times also rejected an ad using the same art). So they came up with a second design featuring Glover and Davidson that was apparently considered more acceptable. Criterion split the difference by adapting the second design and squeezing the art from the first down there in the corner.

Ah, so it is. I must have combined the two Bamboozled posters in my mind.

I actually think the TT cover of Leave Her to Heaven looks better.

They’re both variations on the most iconic scene. I like both fine, though hard to get worked up one way or the other. Besides the busy yet boring Show Boat, all the covers are okay

I think Cranes are flying upper part would have been better if they kept it in B&W though.

That booklet for Betty Blue seems to pretty clearly be whatever the backup plan was for the cover itself and whew, bullet dodged.

Though their respective facial expressions on that booklet image perfectly capture how the film treats each character.

- do we need to find good new artworks for this one ?
- nah, a few still frames will do.
- I can't find any ! Would half ones be OK ?

20 years ago, it would have been the DVD cover artwork for sure.

It's the best cover of 2019, IMO

I was thinking laserdisc cover (they loved their still grabs floating in a sea of solid color back then) but either way it’s outdated. That said, I kinda like it.

Good grief, some of those are downright hideous. They picked the right one, no doubt.

Reminds me of some swimminghorses ones : take a still from the movie and play with the font for the title.

You know the decision was all Streisand. She controls everything that she’s involved in

I wish we had thought to save all those and repost them with more reliable image hosts

This is evident in how prominently the stars are featured on each cover and how the large the "Directed by Barbara Streisand" is on the final version compared to the others.

Salesman should have gotten a new cover. The one time the original poster was terrible and they chose to not change it. I guess because it was designed Henry Wolf, no one even thought to question it.

"Check this out: It's Jesus as a salesman because the film is about bible salesmen."
"You're a genius, Mr Wolf!"

But then I wouldn't have to imagine what prompted such wonderful questions as "is that a sperm coming out of her eye?"
