Nice! A truly wonderful film (arguably the greatest musical biopic) and I'm glad they've learned from the outcry after Hit the Deck dropped all of its special features and are porting over all (most?) of the features from the DVD(s)

Yes, there was a 46 minute documentary on Cagney, a Cagney trailer gallery, and still galleries on the DVD.

Watched Out of the Past for the first time last night on the old WB DVD, and I can now say that this is a title I will certainly be adding to my collection. Everything about the film is top-notch: an excellent leading performance by Robert Mitchum (his demeanor, outfit, delivery of lines, swindling of others as he tries to save himself...), a sinister femme fatale played by Jane Greer, a suspenseful, twisty plot, quick-fire dialogue, dark, shadowy cinematography, and much more. There is also a timeless air to the film that makes it hold up rather well today, much akin to a noir like The Third Man (which is probably my personal favorite that the genre has to offer).
Good to WAC for releasing this one on Blu-Ray.

Thanks for letting us know about this very obscure film. Looks like you've uncovered a "buried treasure"!

Hey, there's always a first time for everybody. There's no need to discourage someone from posting enthusiastically about an established classic.

My wife and I just finished watching the BD. The transfer looked amazing. Although we have seen this film several times before, my wife still wanted to watch it tonight. She is a big fan of Mitchum. I was surprised by one thing. I don't recall anybody even mentioning about one odd regarding the disc, the yellow subs. I think that this could be the only BD in my collection now with yellow subs. I didn't know that they still do it. That's being said, I am glad that WB has released it and honestly can't wait for more Noirs from them.

An interesting choice from that Crawford set, though I think I'd have preferred any of the other three that haven't made it to Blu yet (And is Warners mocking us/showing their own ignorance of their catalog by releasing this before Mildred Pierce?)

It is absurd to release before Mildred Pierce which really should have gone out with that Haynes miniseries, but it's not completely ridiculous either.

But... it's "the quintessential film noir."

I don't dislike it but it is exactly no one's idea of a noir followup release to Out of the Past

I'm pretty sure Mildred Pierce will be released by Warner Home Video and not Warner Archive. WHV only allows Archive release titles they are not interested in.

'Possessed' is actually one of my favourite noirs and one of my favourite Crawford films. The level of hysteria she brings to the role is very convincing. And it looks good too.
