You don't have to check. It's 2.0, same as the DVDs, same as the laserdisc. Nevertheless, now the OAR mission has been accomplished with this BR, provided the press release proves accurate.

Interesting to find out how informative and well made those new interviews will turn out. I don't mean to be anal about it, but it's a pity there is no real meaty documentary - I personally love those. But can't complain to much, it's great to know that AN will be in 2.4!!

Will Hearts Of Darkness be presented in HD?

Have you not seen Hearts of Darkness? Besides maybe Burden of Dreams, you couldn't ask for a meatier documentary in terms of documenting the production of a film.

This is a good question since I'm not certain the documentary was ever mastered on anything higher than standard definition video. The previous DVD release definitely looked like it was transferred from SD video. Eleanor Coppola's 16mm footage used in the doc could be remastered in HD, but that would require the entire project to be re-edited which I doubt would be done.

And will this really be Hearts of Darkness or the new Coppolla-censored edit that we've been hearing about?

Way sooner than I expected and almost too good to be true. Guess we will see, though I'm not sure why the delux(er) set gets the shite cover art...

According to The Digital Bits,
And here's something that hasn't been revealed anywhere yet but we've officially confirmed it here at The Bits: Hearts of Darkness, which was originally filmed in 16mm, has been scanned in HD and will be presented in full 1080p on Blu-ray!

Great news, it seems the 3-disc is worth the extra $14

Quick, while Coppola's being generous, someone go and ask him to end the embargo on Brownlow's cut of Napoleon. [-o<

That's a music issue, right? Or are there other reasons?

Hearts of Darkness looks crummy so unless someone hasn't got it on DVD or has a hard on for seeing it in HD might not be a reason for getting the version with the crappy cover art.

Blu-ray.com wrote:

Firstly, Hearts of Darkness, the acclaimed documentary on the grueling shoot of Francis Ford Coppola's classic (included only in the Full Disclosure Edition), will be presented in high-definition 1080p resolution. Secondly, both cuts of Apocalypse Now will be presented in the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1

Cover art for the 3-disc is good if you remove Brando. Quite striking, really.

It's not like the original poster/artwork is a masterpiece anyway.

Which one are you refering to? If it's anything Bob Peak did, it *is* a masterpiece.

I love how Amazon lists the aspect ratio as 1.33:1! That will show us: this time we won't even get the partially compromised 2.00:1, but the full-blown standard-frame pan-and-scan version

But seriously...I assume the 1.33:1 applies to HEARTS OF DARKNESS only.

1:33/1 applies to all those people at the rental stores who complain about the black bars on the top and bottom. They prefer the pan and scan version because the widesreeen makes the image smaller all the while not noticing that pan and scan deletes like 30 percent of the image etc etc etc.
