I was recently lucky enough to come across the Bluray disc of The Third Man at a second hand shop. I am wondering, does anyone know if it is still possible to purchase replacement artwork (booklet, case) of The Third Man that was available to replace the digibooks that Criterion initially offered of the title? Any information on this would be very helpful, including perhaps other means or suggestions for finding replacement artwork other than from Criterion directly.

Thanks!

It no longer appears among the available Criterion Blu-ray replacement cases.

That's a very nice one, indeed. Very Japanese (even a bit Chinese if you are familiar with the painting style of that era).

NICE! Love it.

I imagine the BD packaging will be a standard 2-disc digipak like Seven Samurai or Battle of Algiers.

I might blind buy for the cover alone. Very nice.

Shouldn't they change the background to white and the sun to red?

Not a fan of the new artwork. It's not terrible but they could have made a much more beautiful cover by taking the sunset duel image and painting it Ōkami-style, perhaps overlaying it with the title in a Japanese calligraphy style. The black box looks awkward.

No.
A white background would be too boring.

Heres hoping for good artwork inside also and a thick booklet.

I thought he was defending his large white ball from being punctured.

Well, that's the DVD. Have they done a 2-disc custom keep-case for Blu-ray yet?

Oh, yeah, you're right.

I suppose the closest has been Che (two separate plastic cases in a box) or Benjamin Button (but that's probably a whole different story).

It will probably be a Night of the Hunter situation then (DVD gets plastic, Blu gets digi-pack).

This doesn't necessarily rule out a digipak release. B&N have had Spirit of the Beehive pictured as having one of these standard clear case for ages, but everyone that bought it got a digipak.

There have been lots of preliminary pictures of things from nearly every company that show them in a regular case.
Also, they are listed as "Box Set" which regular 2 discs are not, I would figure two in a slip case for the Blu.
I don't mean to be the negative guy, I love the art, but it doesn't really remind me of the films?

I compagni looks great... apart from the inside cover. Everything else matches well then someone hasn't bothered to finished the job. Pity, could've been one of their recent best.

Finding it odd they'd upgrade the two Stillman's I figured maybe they finally got Barcelona and were releasing a set, but then remembered his new film is out, so that's probably the reason.
