Nice to see that Criterion is actually releasing Antichrist. Heard some opposing rumors last year. It was the opening film of an art house cinema in Tallinn last year and most unforgetable cinematic experience I've ever had. Now let's hope they've learned from "A Christmas Tale" and "Summer Hours", and won't forget to announce the Blu-ray...

I think Blu-ray sales have been good for them, hence the increase in releases in both formats.

The Criterion Newsletter alludes to the ANTICHRIST release.

I bet that October will be an all horror month and will have Cronos, House, and Anitchrist.

No. It's already coming in 2 weeks from Cinema Guild, who released it theatrically.

Thanks. I only asked because Netflix is about to have it go live streaming, but it is not on their disc release schedule (much like Che, Antichrist, Summer Hours, etc...).

Throw in Island of Lost Souls, and you've got yourself a deal, Criterion.

Has anyone ever asked if Criterion has The Uninvited?

Nice. It's been missing in action in regards to DVD. Thank Ian.

The latest Facebook post is a link to a clip from Branded to Kill. I can think of two reasons for this:

1. Recent death of the film's art director (though no mention was made of this on the link)
2. Blu-ray

I think you have a winner behind door #1. They may not have mentioned his passing in the link, but they did a separate post yesterday.

It's already been established that Branded to Kill and Tokyo Drifter have much improved transfers/print sources (and are preceded by the Wacky C logo) when streamed on Netflix. They WILL be re-released at some point, and Blu makes sense (at least to me, especially in the case of the kinetic and colorful Tokyo Drifter); I can't see Criterion profiting off of new transfers quietly dumped on Netflix Instant Play.

Anyone else think that they will try and time 'The Following' to coincide with 'Inception' being released?

Has it been noted here that Carol Reed's Odd Man Out is now available via Instant Streaming on Netflix? that's new...like just this week think. could this portend a future Criterion release?

It's been a forthcoming title for at least forever

It's also been on Netflix instant streaming for several months. I think I watched it last summer/fall through that method. I'm sure Criterion will release the film at some point, but I doubt the Netflix instant access has anything to do with when...

There's a good R2 Network release available. Only downside is a lack of English subs, but it's not a major issue since the audio quality is quite good. Beaver.

I emailed Mulvaney about a year or two ago I think asking about Carol Reed and he confirmed Odd Man Out was coming.

I actually posted here a little over a year ago that Odd Man Out had been made available for instant viewing. If it's coming at some point from Criterion, all the better. They have some serious Reed gaps to fill back in now.

If you're gonna pick up the R2, just get the James Mason boxed set, which has another Reed title and Mank's otherwise unavailable 5 Fingers for like five pounds more than any individual release

Great point. I can totally see that happening. Which means it should be announced next week for July.
