I recently asked Mulvaney about any Ken Loach making it into the Collections, specifically Poor Cow and My Name Is Joe. No dice on either:

I re-watched The Limey after getting my copy of The Hit and was curious about Poor Cow and Loach in general.

Most likely Criterion main line for Scorsese as I think it will be 1 or 2 disc for the shorts. It would be pointless to have a set for them and can you imagine Scorsese having his work out without him contributing to them. I'm sure these are quite personal and historical for him.

I emailed Mulvaney and asked about Week End and Vivre sa vie, redundant probably, but I was hoping I may get some clarification, so hopefully these will get the Criterion treatment that they deserve soon.

Well Vivre sa vie has already been confirmed by Criterion.

I've only seen A Brighter Summer Day on an execrable VCD with bad subs, but it was still brilliant. A Criterion DVD would be a dream come true.

I noticed on DVD Aficionado that several more Bergman titles were added...everything from "Summer Interlude" to the much-maligned "All These Women" to "From the Life of the Marionettes." Could there be another Eclipse collection of his works coming?

Wouldn't surprise me, though these titles are far too many for just one set, so I suppose there might be a box dedicated to films from the 50s and another to the later films. Or perhaps they do "Marionettes" and "Magician" in the main line (both films clearly deserve it). Which still leaves the problem that the only film not available on its own anywhere is "Dreams", and whether that would be tempting enough to buy a whole Eclipse set must be a difficult choice for many.

I'm thinking they will continue to release some of their Bergman titles on the main line while a themed box for the lower tiers as usual. Janus/Criterion has a few titles that we know they control:

From the Life of the Marionettes (main line?)
Face to Face (probably main line)
Summer with Monika (probably main line)
The Magician (probably main line)

The Devil's Eye (1961)
A Lesson in Love (1960)
All These Women (1964)
Dreams (1955)
Secrets of Women (1952)
The Rite (1969, TV)
Summer Interlude (?)

Perhaps some kind of "women..." theme?

I seriously doubt Marionettes gets a release outside of an Eclipse set, but I also can't figure out how they'd shove it in with any theme. However, the other three are right for a mainline release with no speculation needed.

I'd say a theatrical Eclipse with After the Rehearsal, the Devil's Eye, and the Rite and another romance/sexual politics box with Summer Interlude, Waiting Women, All These Women, and A Lesson in Love-- haven't seen Dreams so I don't know where it'd fit.

I hope any Bergman title comes out soon, maybe some August surprises. I hope August is a Bergman month or a good month. Does anyone have an idea whether Revanche would come out soon?

Revanche only just started its theatrical tour, so probably not for another five months or so.

it was such a good film. Can't wait for it to come out!

Actually Dreams would fit in perfectly with your latter set as would The Touch (if Criterion feels compelled to give this one a home).

The bad news is it really does have that cover.

That cover looks like one of those soap operas from the 80's. But the film was good and I enjoyed it.

Maybe you like that one better. The DVD is very good.

Only Sånt händer inte här (1950) is still missing in action, all other Bergman cinema features have been released on DVD.
