huh...it was in my "saved" section of my dvd queue forever and I only just noticed it. And I know it's been confirmed as forthcoming forever, but was also worried given the Third Man debacle that it was no longer available to them. I keep hoping that OMO and The Man Between will get adjacent spine #s a la Thieves Highway and Night and the City one month.

Odd Man Out was available for streaming for a while last year but was pulled around the beginning of the year and has only just come back now.

I wish Jour de fête could be released the same month as a Blu-Ray'd Tati.

I hope they release something from Martin Scorsese's World Film Foundation in July in either the mainline or Eclipse. Quite a few of those films sounded quite interesting. The press release was issued at Cannes last year and 12 months later nothing has been released! You think they would have been able to bring at least one film to market....
July would be a good month to launch some of these titles actually. April 15 should be the day that both Criterion solicts and Cannes lineup are announced. The new restorations to be screened at this years festival as part of Cannes Classic series should be revealed on the 15th as well? Seems a good opportunity to maximize publicity/marketing efforts on this venture.

And I've been waiting for the supposed Maysles box (even on Eclipse) for ages. Some of those films have never been released on DVD.

What are the chances of seeing Don't look now in the collection?

They've said no, but it was quite a while ago that I asked.

And when you ask on Facebook, you get a "yes" no matter what - so try that.

Sadly, Criterion's already had opportunity to release both and apparently decided not to.
Seance was
released by former sister label Home Vision Entertainment in 2002,
Whisperers is
getting released this week by MGM as a burn-on-demand DVD-R. Neither film got the quality release it deserves, of course.
There's absolutely no reason why they couldn't do
Don't Look Now. They've licensed from Paramount before and apparently are big Nic Roeg fans. One of the highlights of my moviegoing life was seeing a new 35mm print at the Castro about 10 years ago. It was such a powerful experience that I don't think I've watched the DVD as long as I've had it.

I'd happily be silly right along with you. I would love to see Cabaret receive a lavish Criterion treatment.

Frank Perry's 'The Swimmer'? There's a pristine print streaming on Netflix despite the unavailability of the DVD.

Pretty sure that's the scene in Fish Tank where she practices her dance moves.

yes it does really look like Fish Tank (which is in 1:33)
that would be a great news for me, since the Blu-Ray UK doesn't have subtitles (altough the picture quality is great)- I'm French, and like "Naked" for instance, it's sometimes a bit difficult to understand every word...

Perhaps they also let Home Vision release Seance On A Wet Afternoon to pair it up with the
Kiyoshi Kurosawa version that HVe had also issued.
