The previous BD release had a somewhat notable jaundice color tone. I remember it not exactly jiving with my memories of how it looked when I saw it in theatres, which *was* a bit yellow but not *as* yellow as the BD looked.

One minor and somewhat peculiar change to the supplements: the "home movies" are no longer ascribed to Edward Norton.

One major and very peculiar change to the release: It's been pushed back to 22 September.

The spine number has also been eliminated from the product page. Could they have orchestrated a delay solely to justify it being assigned #800?

I don't think we'll be getting 30 new spines in August and September; #777 might make sense, though.

I believe that Epstein of HTF has posted the cover art on their site.

Sorry bout that. You're right it says cover coming soon at the bottom. It looked official to me. I'm also on my phone which is not the best way to search.
And thankfully that's not the cover because that would be awful.

Just posted on Facebook:
We're sitting down with Wes Anderson to talk MOONRISE KINGDOM tomorrow. What should we ask him?
Reply with your best question, your name and city, and your question might end up on a Criterion disc!
Have they ever done this before? Moreover, any theories on what's going on with this release--why announce when it clearly wasn't ready?

They did something like this for at least Mystery Train and Life During Wartime.

Seems like Jake Ryan, the actor who played Lionel, will be joining Wes Anderson for the commentary
according to Instagram.

Title change needed. Moonrise Kingdom is now Spine 776.

They have deleted the "More!" from the special feature rundown, and the only addition is "a selection of commentary from young writers" among the printed supplements. Still surprised that the Cousin Ben Troop Screening short and the animated versions of Suzy's books apparently aren't included, but maybe it was felt the online presence of those items was sufficient.
As far as my pipe dream of including Waris Hussein's Melody as a bonus feature, we can certainly forget about that. Hussein and Alan Parker did a Q&A at a Melody screening at BFI Southbank a couple of weeks ago. Hussein was apparently critical of Moonrise Kingdom, and reportedly said that he was disappointed that Anderson didn't ask his permission for the homage, and that he wouldn't have granted it.

This is just like 5 in the morning thinking here, but I wonder if it would be possible to treat such homages like sampling in the music business. And if something slips through the cracks, and Hollywood looking at a lawsuit like the one brought by Marvin Gaye's family recently.

Homages in films don't generally take directly from the source material, unlike sampling in music.
A closer example to that would be if a movie were to take scenes from a movie directly and re-edit them with original footage, like Weird Al Yankovic's "interviews".

did they abandon the idea for the Q&A then? I feel like Wes is a good director to do this with, as were Jarmusch and Solondz.
maybe it'll show up for the Grand Budapest release.

I think it's mildly likely to turn up as a web-only thing around release, like the Life Aquatic bonus interview.

I haven't listened to the entire track yet but interestingly Peter Becker is a participant in the commentary. So far he seems to be there more to ask Anderson questions about the film, though also provides his own comments on the film. Based on them trying to call Norton on the phone I'm guessing the other participants will all be ringing in over the phone as well, but I'll find out when I am able to listen to the rest.

Yet another reminder that their reviewers should probably just refrain from attempting to review the films themselves.
