And me! I'd ordered both the Rivette and the Battles sets and now my points balance is extremely healthy.

Shame that can't be said for my bank account...

Yup, same thing happened to my rewards too. I hope they don't expire, because I have nothing to buy from them until next year.

Thanks, Arrow (and Ribs too, for prompting them)! I've received extra points for Rivette and Battles Without Honour and Humanity. In fact, I now have more than enough points to upgrade to the forthcoming 4K Deep Red.

I also received a hefty bevy of reward points. Well played Arrow. As if your stellar releases weren't enough to capture hearts and minds (and wallets).

Better buy the Hellraiser box now if you haven't already and were waiting:
** STOCK UPDATE : HELLRAISER THE SCARLET BOX **
Our Limited Edition Hellraier boxset is now out of print and has been removed from sale on the Arrow Store.

Stock is still available with some retailers via the links below so if you were planning to pre-order this set do try and act soon to avoid disappointment!

Find it on Amazon.co.uk here: http://amzn.to/1NBSAhi" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Find it on HMV here: http://bit.ly/1NBSXIH" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Find it on Zavvi here: http://bit.ly/1NBSB4Y" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Arrow's Black Friday will suck for many here: big bundles of discounted titles, but not much use if you have already been buying as you go.

Yep, prices are neat but only useful if you're a beginner with Arrow releases.

December sale incoming. Even then I'm hoping there aren't too many blinders as obviously it's nearly Christmas!

Managed to get Retaliation for £6.99 on Amazon yesterday though, so I'm happy for now!

I know it gets asked every time so apologies in advance. Is it best to use points during these sales or to save them? Is it during the sale that double points are given for purchases?

Thanks.

Both, sort of. The disadvantage in using them during sales only applies to sale items, whilst the advantage of sales is that you receive double points, and you get these on all items, not just sale items. Meaning sales are a great time to pick up everything you want from Arrow, not just discounted stuff. For example, this time around I will order:

American Horror Project
Audition
The Rainer Werner Fassbinder Collection
Death Walkes Twice: Two Films by Luciano Ercoli
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai
Madman
La Grande Bouffe
Eaten Alive
Cemetery Without Crosses

A mix of the newest sale items and the limited edition sets (I'm leaving Nikkatsu Diamond Guys and Beyond the Valley of the Dolls for Amazon as they're not competitively priced on Arrow's site). This will cost me £208.91 but I'll receive 20% of that back in the form of points. With the points I will then order:

What Have You Done to Solange?
Five Dolls for an August Moon

for free, with about £8 in points left over if I want to make a future non-sale purchase.

This is definitely the cheapest way to secure the limited editions you want, pick up titles you're not hugely interested in at a low price, and get titles you are hugely interested in but that don't have a time limit incentive, for free!

I say buy sale stuff now and rack up the points to use on the next limited edition set that gets announced

I was about to complain that I just bought Deep Red yesterday and missed out on the double points, but it looks like that's completely gone now.

I usually save up my points for instances like that--when you have to order outside of a sale to avoid missing out on a limited edition.

This really sucks. I already have pre-ordered Audition, The Rainer Werner Fassbinder Collection, Five Dolls For An August Moon, and 3 more items, which could have easily eared me the double points. I understand that it will be a big hassle to cancel 6 separate orders and then re-order.

During the last sale they credited people double points on pre-orders that were placed before the sale started. They did that automatically, so better wait a few days before e-mailing them.

The Boro titles are never discounted except for the Black Friday bundle, why are these always excluded from the sale?

They only credited people for preordering the Rivette set though, which was only fair given that they extended the early bird price window to coincide with the next sale period.

I was unaware of this, I thought everyone got double points on all pre-orders! It's best to e-mail them then if you want the double points.

I remember it has to do with those movies being also sold in the US, but with materials being reshuffled because Arrow don't have the US rights for everything on them.

I think there's an argument to be made regarding the Fassbinder set getting double points for every order - I ordered it almost immediately because of the limited stock, only to be told days later that it would actually be available through the release date regardless of how many they sell and they'd adjust the print order from there. I'd have waited for the sale otherwise.

I'll email at some point but I'm sure they're presently inundated with people that have actual problems with the website so will wait a bit.

Perhaps this has been posed before, but quick question about the sale points: if you use your points on a set (i.e. The Rainer Werner Fassbinder Collection) that is priced above 50 pounds to put the price below 50 pounds, does it no longer qualify for free shipping? Just pondering.

I believe that does still qualify for free shipping.

Actually, I sent an email to Arrow asking if they could just give me the extra points to save them from cancelling my Fassbinder preorder just for me to re order it.
Instead, they cancelled my order via thier usual email "we intercepted and cancel your order". I thus guess you can ask them to do the same.

I think the overall observation with the Fassbinder set though is that nobody expected it to be preordered so much. It's a hefty sum to spend in one time, a Arrow store exclusive and it's not as if Fassbinder was known to sell thousands of copies.
In the end, maybe actually it has only been an early rush and the original 1000 copies won't sell out on release day.

Thought the sale was really disappointing. Was hoping and expecting the great 3 for £20 deal they did last year. However it's mainly just older titles that were part of the 3 for £20 last year at £8 and some newer ones down to £10.

Does anyone know if there's been any indication of where the sales are up to with My Darling Clementine? I'm tempted at £13 but I'm trying to be pretty strict with myself at the moment due to an oppressive kevyip.
