Could that be Cassavetes' Gloria next to the bridge? She's over-armed I suppose, but other than that, she's dressed for the part. Their relationship with Gena Rowlands makes it seem like a likely acquisiton.

It's tough to tell from the drawing. Maybe those aren't even all guns she's carrying, but some of this other crap.

Gloria is coming from Mill Creek in February (dvd only sadly) packaged with the Lumet remake, so it presumably won't be available to Criterion for a while.

Just a thought. I'm still unsure of what it would be. The Kinji Fukasaku films are a good bet too but like zedz pointed out the drawing is blonde. The rose and the woman are puzzling. I put my two cents in and now I think I will just play the "wait and see" game.

The soldiers are from Wajda's Popioly (fingers-crossed, while it's clear I can't hope for another 2014, it'd be nice if there were at least one film in the new year's drawing I could be excited about, though the original Les Miserables would work just as well & I doubt Napoleon would be ready this soon).

Earlier today on the Facebook page, criterion linked to an article on the title sequence for DR. STRANGELOVE. I don't know about you, but my new favorite explanation for that hole in the ground (or whatever it is) in the NYD clue is it was caused by a nuclear bomb.

Because...Kubrick. Redundant as it may be. They're not going to not release a Kubrick if they can.

The BD has been OOP for a while. In fact, according to MMM, the only in-print version is a Kubrick collection from WB. It was a laserdisc title as well.

I repeat, a 0% chance of it being the case. In those rare circumstances where Sony puts out the beautiful editions themselves, why would they go ahead and license it out to someone else after the fact?

And it's Kubrick. And it's Strangelove.

I love Strangelove (even have a t-shirt with the "cartoon" poster) but I'd much rather Criterion get Barry Lyndon from Warner in the correct aspect ratio and with some contextualising extras. A Strangelove Crit is going to be as redundant as their Llewyn Davis disc.
