I'd be surprised if they hadn't given their longstanding and good relationship with the BFI (who would undoubtedly be behind a UK release, if one ever happens).

does anyone know if they found new footage to Napoleon (from what the article from a few pages back about the film).

I really wouldn't worry about it selling out this far in advance - Napoleon with a full orchestra isn't anything like as rare an event in London as it was in the US. There were plenty of empty seats when I last saw it in 2000, and the day before the 2004 event the BFI was offering massive discounts to all staff - which was a bit of a giveaway!

Nope, you must buy a membership, access to booking future events opens for members first.

hope the film would be in NYC or DC sometime in the next few years. also hope for a dvd release of the film (which we all would love to see). also does anyone know what is going on with the film at the cinematheque in paris.

It looks like it's more popular this time, I've just booked and there's not a huge amount of seats left, the front stalls are close to selling out and I'd say 80% of the whole hall is sold out. I'd imagine if people want to see this and they're not members, they should book on the day public booking opens. There's usually a number of seats put back on sale at a later date, but you can't count on it.

Do we know how long it will be before "public" booking opens ?

I booked using the Philharmonic website as above...and got my tickets in the post yesterday...amazing stuff..

Was going to email them to say what great service it was..I wasn't expecting the tickets until October at the earliest !

Booked my ticket (in the cheap seats, row SS) - so excited to finally see this. I did a month's placement at the BFI National Archive in 2011 as part of my Film Archiving MA and got to observe Ben Thompson working on this at the same time as the Blackmail restoration. (Not to mention Kevin Brownlow addressing my class and speaking about it too.)

We got our tickets in the members booking window - last time in 2000 I was right at the back, this time we're front stalls. So much looking forward to this. My husband does like silents, we are regular Barbican Sunday attendees, but he is a bit apprehensive about the length of this film. I told him he'll be fine!

It does sound ominous -the length of the film-but if they do it as they did it in 2000-there are plenty of breaks of 15-30 mins and a long one of 90 mins-and I think the longest segment of film was only about 90 mins-although I may be wrong
