Got mine today. Great pack and clear cases.

As for La Haine, I think it is one of the most beautiful and expressive covers, Criterion have done for a long time. It is much better than the "eyes" cover seen in the U.K. The point made by obscuring the faces is very appropriate, and the head room above is a perfect isolation of the characters in empty space, as they are shown isolated from French society .

Overlord and La Haine are great. They're evocative!

I figure better ask this before the old Yojimbo and Sanjuro covers are forgotten, what exactly were they supposed to be? Rorschach tests?

Well the tops of them look black. I guess I didn't spend enough time looking at it to spot the clear part on the bottom.

As soon as I saw the first eclipse box, I knew they were going to use the same template for each box and just change the colors. Call it the buffy the vampire slayer approach to dvd set design.

I like the packaging look of Eclipse. I hope they keep all of them with this same uniform style. Simple yet classy.

yeah, that decided it. if i can figure out a way to justify it financially, i'm gonna blind buy the malle docs - after seeing that box and reading about a few of the films, i'm pretty sold.

Maybe they came up with the color palette in their lunch break.

Now lets just hope the boxes are sturdy, and they package the DVDs in the thin amaray cases.

So are they by Eclipse or Criterion, I confused?

Where is the Criterion logo?

The eclipse logo is right in where it should be....

And the side says "ECLIPSE FROM THE CRITERION COLLECTION"

The boxes look much nice with the images across the center.

Why wouldn't they go thin-paks? Aren't they cheaper? Then again, I guess if they did go thin-paks, they would have to create artwork for every title in the set...

Looking and press release for the first set, they do have a cover for each title.

Well that's good to hear. Anyone know what the price difference on doing Six Moral Tales style digis vs. thin-paks?
