I can't either, but that's because despite me ordering it on 29 November it still hasn't arrived. I suspect feelthy foreigners like me are right at the bottom of the priority list after VS subscribers and fine upstanding Americans.

Well if you weren't aware, the last half hour of the movie won't play in certain UHD players. They may try to sort that out before shipping to other countries? And for what it's worth, I only received my shipment a couple days ago

I was aware, and VS has always been very good about proactive replacements - I've never had to request one upfront.

VS mentioned that orders placed during the pre-Black Friday shopping event (?) at November 1, where Goodbar was first made available for sale, will ship first. I’ve ordered then and got my international package today (shipped just ahead of Christmas) so they’re likely still a bit behind.

I regret to confirm that the transfer of Candy Mountain is appalling. Someone somewhere in the restoration or encoding process had no idea what to do with the color black. True blacks are reduced to blobs of pale green/blue pixels. Reminds me of playing with photoshop and cranking up the contrast on a dark image until it glows with pixel rings. Bright scenes are… okay. Relatively speaking. But really this looks hardly any better than Blaq Out’s French DVD transfer and that is one of the worst discs I own. So is this. I think the VHS might be better (in spite of the lower resolution), although my VCR recently quit on me so I can’t fire it up for a comparison right now.
The issues are with your setup. I also got the release, checked your time codes and can’t see any of the issues on my LG OLED + Panasonic 824. Blacks are very deep and look as they should. The encode is terrible (as are most of Film Movement’s) but these issues aren’t inherited from there. Hopefully you’re getting this sorted out!

I fail to see how this is in my tv when nothing else I watch has this issue, but maybe someone can give me a clue. I watched The Keep (a very darkly lit movie) and saw nothing of this sort at all. I also don’t see it on streaming video or live TV, so I’m confused.

For anyone curious on recommendations, please check out Smiley Face, it’s such a genuinely funny little comedy and it has an almost infectious charm to it that Araki really hones in on.

Ditto on the recommendation. I saw it at SXSW years ago, laughed a ton, and was always disappointed it had never gotten a Blu-ray release.

Never expected to see The Canyons get a re-release (the blu ray has been a Dollar Tree staple) but especially not with an Adrian Martin commentary.

They couldn’t get ANY other features for Smiley Face? Some real wasted opportunities with these titles

Hukkle is a really fun film. The directors’ other works have all been restored in Hungary

On release pages on the VS site, there are "Have It" and "Need It" buttons that I assume indicate a library/wantlist function... but I can't find anywhere to actually see that library/wantlist? Anyone know where that's hiding?

On the bottom of the page, towards the center, you should see VS Checklist under Explore

Oh, thanks! I had looked at those checklists and assumed it was just a list of releases—missed that have/need is a sortable column there.

Melusine:
The Image UHD (Melusine)
Neon Nights (Command Cinema)
Ribald Tales of Canterbury & Tasty (Peekarama)
Also listed in the Rewards section of the Melusine site: the notorious roughie
Hot Summer In the City BD, which can be
redeemed for 3000 loyalty points (
trailer!).
I know VS/etc. has had previous releases with original licensed music tracks, but I think slipping this one quietly almost under the radar is probably best for all involved (John Sebastian: still alive!). But then again, the trailer also looks like best-existing-print-available anyway, not like anyone was really expecting that sort of thing? Melusine is neck & neck with my adult-oriented DV-R keyvip this time around, but I hope this title is still alive for their annual Valentine's Day adults-only sale (it's lonely at the top, etc.).

I know VS only had a month off from releases, but this month's seems like they're really pushing a deluge out (& maybe ran out of money for supplements?!?!), but at least there's a Purchell commentary

Bang the Drum Slowly (Cinématographe)
I guess this means they aren't doing Eight Men Out

The way Cinematographe keeps going after all those old $5 Paramount bargain DVD titles is telling

Feeling like Domino with this particular slate of announcements. My order from Black Friday still hasn't shipped, so I'm sure that's adding to my sour feeling, but man... not sure I've seen a more boring film (aside from Goin' South?) with an A++ grade actor in it than Bang the Drum Slowly. Between that and a copy of Virtuosity that's nearly as expensive as buying a VR headset, and Vinegar Syndrome is definitely driving themselves off a cliff in my book.

Here are hints for the Cinématographe releases for the first half of 2025
Jan 6th -- blu-ray of an overlooked 70s mystery, has been released in the US but has been OOP for a while
February -- two blu-ray releases: one a never on disc, anywhere in the world, comedy and the other a never on blu-ray, anywhere in the world, drama
March -- world blu-ray debut of a 70s film
April -- world UHD debut of an action movie, which will likely be the most controversial choice for Cinématographe yet
May -- world blu-ray debut of an 80s film from a major filmmaker, world UHD debut of another 80s film that couldn't be more different

70’s mystery:
Peeper or
The Late Show?
80’s film from a major filmmaker:
Young Sherlock Holmes or
China Girl
Controversial action film:
Crack House

Peeper should be with Fox, and The Late Show is Warners. VS doesn't have deals with either of them, unless these would be the first releases, which is unlikely.
Young Sherlock Holmes is already on Blu-ray, so it wouldn't be a Blu-ray debut.
