Zavvi, Hive, and I've recently tried Simply Home Entertainment (previously Moviemail?), though I've yet to receive the actual package from the latter as it's only been a few days. All ship internationally. The BFI shop's good for buying their releases direct, though they also sell some releases by labels like Criterion UK & Indicator, but not always priced below rrp/srp.

The one issue I have with any of these is that Zavvi (at least for discs) ships every item indivually in barely padded envelopes and charges for each shipment separately - which has caused my bank to put a hold on my card whenever I've ordered more than a couple of items. They claim it's to get things to you quicker, but I've usually had then all turn up on about the same day.

Has anyone picked up the new Artificial Eye Blu-ray of Bresson’s Les Dames Du Bois De Boulogne? The AE/Curzon site seems to be down with certificate problems. I haven’t been able to find any reviews, or even a full listing of what the release contains for supplemental features. How’s it stack up against the Criterion DVD?

Memories of Murder and Barking Dogs Never Bite both coming soon (presumably late 2020/early 2021)! Can't wait for the former especially, but curious about the latter.

Great news. Barking Dogs is fantastic, rapta. Light & full of energy. Both these films are what made me want to check out more of Bong Joon Ho’s work, after being immensely underwhelmed by The Host & Snowpiercer. Thankfully they turned out to be the exception.

Barking Dogs was my first Bong film -- and still my favorite. Needless to say, I bought this solely because it starred BAE Doona.

AE will be releasing a Merchant Ivory collection in two weeks with Howards End, The Europeans, The Bostonians, and Quartet. A little weird seeing as Cohen released Howards End themselves in the UK after pulling the planned BFI release, and it seems pretty pricy with a £55 MSRP.

Does anybody know what is happening with physical media releases through Artificial Eye/Curzon.

Aside from the James Ivory films & Bong films do they have anything else planned. The last Blu Ray catalogue release I recall was Oliver Hermanus' Moffie.

A few other recent titles such as Non-Fiction, Who You Think I Am & By the Grace of God were regulated to DVD releases only.

Mikhaël Hers' Amanda (2018) remains unreleased even on DVD. And what of Only the Animals & The Country? Any observations would be most welcome.

I don't think there's any pattern, they seem to be evaluating each title's commercial prospects on a case by case basis.

As Aunt Peg points out, AE/Curzon have definitely moved towards releasing certain films only on DVD, but there also seems to be a shift to some films not getting a physical-media release at all. The Dardennes' Young Ahmed has only been released on streaming and, as yet, there's no announcement for a physical release for Ozon's Summer of '85. In the past, I think both of these would definitely have had DVD and BluRay releases. Similar things seem to be happening at New Wave, with the recent Bruno Dumont releases appearing to be streaming-only too.

It was the impression I was getting. I didn't know New Wave were going down a similar pattern either which is a shame. I was looking forward to buying the latest Dumont. Hopefully Kino in the US will acquire it as they have most of his recent work.

I may be wrong about New Wave: 'Coincoin' at least appears to have a DVD release in November according to Amazon.

I was disappointed by the lack of BD release for some recent titles: Birds of Passage, Sunset, Transit, Non-Fiction, So Long My Son. I was hoping their acquisition by Cohen Media might drive them to do more Blu-ray...the Merchant Ivory set is good news (actually, I wonder if that might also affect Cohen's licensing to labels like Eureka and BFI).

Has anybody picked up the blu for La Ceremonie? I'm curious how it looks and also If it's something Cohen will release in the USA, or does criterion still hold the rights?

Andrei Konchalovsky's Dear Comrades!, positively reviewed by Michael B, appears to be another streaming-only release.

I did contact Curzon Artificial Eye a while ago to inquire about the new direction and was advised, in a very considered and polite response to be fair, that whether a film would get a physical media release was entirely based on how many sales the company could project and that this approach was the result of the year on year decline in sales of DVDs and BluRays. They said they are still looking to release special editions when they feel it would be viable to do so, for example, Summer of 85 may be included in an Ozon Blu Ray set later this year.

Quite a few Curzon films have turned up on Netflix, for example, At Eternity's Gate, Vox Lux and The Whistlers, but not everything the company has released recently, so no Transit or Young Ahmed.
