It says that "Stolen Desire, Imamura's debut feature for Nikkatsu" is also included on the disc. There's a large image of the cover in the MOC cover thread.

Finally got to your gorgeous and well put together Une Femme Mariee and it got me thinking if MOC could go into the Godard pool again. I'm particularly thinking of his '70s work which seems to be the most neglected on english friendly home video. Criterion seem to be unwilling to release the Dziga Vertov Groupe stuff that they supposedly have and I can't think of any other company brave enough to do these justice.

Coming from Gaumont in October. The 'Fiction' box had english subs so there's no reason to suppose the 'Politics' box won't.

Can't really afford to spend all of that money in one month otherwise I would have gotten the fiction box by now. Anybody picking these up for separate releases would be heaven sent (though in the case of Sauve qui peut (la vie) just the AE going back in print would be a sigh of relief)

I never knew of this. I just thought they had Gorin's 80's films. Can anyone else confirm this because this just made me excited and prob about nothing.

Some suggestions for Nick:

would you still consider jidai-geki titles? if yes, I'd put in a plea for Eiichi Kudo's four samurai films, The Great Killing, Assassins, 11 Samurai and Fort of Death. Kudo is seriously underexposed in the West and since the Wild Side set is French only, one has to resort to (surprisingly decent) bootlegs of the Japanese discs to see these with English subs. Fort of Death would be a real coup since it does not have a release anywhere in the world and the cast is led by the great Tomisaburo Wakayama. A print was shown at Italian and US festivals over the last few years. The other three films have yet to see a release in English-speaking countries as well and it'd just require subs on a port of either the Japanese or French sets. Kudo's style is so unique that he would not be out of place in the MoC canon. The films appaear to be in very good condition if the bootlegs are anything to go by and even a 1080p transfer should be possible.

Then, a more recent film: Chunhyang from 2000 by In-Tae-Wok (spelling?). This is quite an enchanting love story/fairy tale and it would look absolutely gorgeous on Blu-Ray. The Korean DVD looks very good but only a Blu would do the amazing cinematography of this film justice and the English subtitles on the Korean release, while serviceable, could do with a retranslation.

Finally, I've asked for this before, but it bears repeating: please port Yamanaka's Pot Worth A Million Ryo over from the Japanese disc (this film deserves better in the West than bootlegs).

And I`d love to see Weekend on blu-ray, and a complete release (including the missing last scene) of La Chinoise.

Weekend is having a Janus run later this year, obviously followed by a Criterion release.

I want to know when Rialto will finally put out Les Carabiniers and Le Petit Soldat, because those 2 along with Weekend I think are the only Godards left to look forward to Criterion-wise (unless they indeed have the Dziga Vertov group films). Hopefully MoC has something else in the future.

Don't Olive Films have Numéro deux here in the U.S.? I wonder if that will see a release when they get around to Histoire(s) du cinéma. So between Criterion and Olive Films here in the U.S., we got 5 Godard titles surely to be released in the next year or 2 (not counting, but very hopeful that Criterion does indeed have the Dziga Vertov Group films).

I remember very vaguely that Nick said a long time ago that another quality label would put out all three extant Yamanaka films in the US (and everyone took that to mean Criterion/Eclipse). Nothing happened so far, though, so I'd indeed vote for MoC reconsidering Yamanaka, quite apart from the fact that an MoC release would provide the much needed background information.

I think he meant the end title card that isn't on the Lorber disc most of us have (I believe other releases are missing it too).

I'd like to suggest two Fred Schepisi films, "The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith" and "The Devil's Playground".
They have never been released on DVD in Europe and would be great additions to the series. I don't know who owns the rights, but any chance?

I know, I have both the Umbrella editions and they're fine (except no subtitles). I just thought it would be nice for a European company to release them, and MoC are the best ones to do it.

Why have you changed the spelling of "Schloß Vogelöd" to "Schloss Vogelöd"? Literary titles aren't usually updated to follow the German spelling reform so I don't understand why you haven't kept the eszett.

Can MoC update us on their plans for Blue Angel? I still have the old Eureka 2-discer sealed and wonder if I should try to sell it or keep

Re Blue Angel: I couldn't wait any longer and having never owned the original Eureka release, I went for Madman's R4 instead and was very pleased with their disc.
