Did it come with a new booklet?

I also received the replacement Third Man BD case. It did not come with a booklet - just the plastic case and the cover art insert. But the book from the digipack version fit in fine.

I checked booklets from the newer cases and the older digipaks and indeed they are the same size and fit fine into each other.

I'm wondering if it's safe to still send payment, assuming they have enough cases. I kept a badly damaged digipak thinking I'd be able to exchange it down the line.

I don't see why not. Another poster in this thread said they shipped out the initial batch of replacement cases and ran out pretty quick and are awaiting on a new shipment to fill the rest of the orders (mine included). I would think since this is a service only to those who already bought the title that it wouldn't pose a problem to Criterion to send out more replacement cases.
On the other hand, who knows? Sillier things have happened.

I ordered the Third Man replacement Blu packaging as soon as it was revealed that the disc had gone out of print, and while they were temporarily out of stock of the cases. I was initially concerned that the rights issues might affect availability of the replacement cases, but I just got an email from Mulvaney saying not to worry, and that, in fact, they had shipped it to me yesterday.

yeah, they confirmed on Facebook yesterday that all people would be taken care in regards to the Third Man case.
I ordered mine on the 20th after they went out of stock and I got mine today in the mail. =D>

While they no longer have the right to release the film on home video, they have the right to release the packaging they designed, so I don't see them ever having a problem keeping the replacement program around (at least until they decide they don't have enough orders to keep it going).

Not necessarily a cover, but the official Janus poster for "House" (Hausu):

I was going to watch Antichrist tonight on IFC direct, but this poster convinced me to rewatch my bootleg of House again.
I hope they sell the poster online. [-o<

What are these Blu-Ray replacement cases that everyone is talking about for $5?
I am going to assume these are to replace the cardboard cases that Criterion originally started with for Blu-Rays?
Can someone confirm for me?
Right now, I have Marienbad, Last Emperor, El Norte, & 400 Blows in the cardboard style cases.
I have Last Metro & Third Man on order, so I do not know if these have cardboard or plastic cases...

Correct. Nobody liked having flimsy packaging and Criterion was able to get special Bluray plastic cases made, so to say sorry to the customers who probably have scratched or broken discs, they are letting us buy plastic cases with the covers and interior job (no insert) for 5 dollars- just dial 1-800.... or send an email over to Criterion.

If you are just now ordering
The Third Man though, it may very well already come in the replacement case, so I'd wait to find out.

Yeah, my BD Third Man has shipped from Amazon, so that one is probably in the updated packaging. I'll wait till that comes in and order replacements for the rest.
A relative also got a free copy of The Last Metro BD for me, but I won't see that until XMas when they visit. I believe that came in a plastic case, so there is no need for a replacement on that one. Can someone confirm?

I don't think Criterion has started using new cases on other cardboard case releases. "The Third Man" was the first because there was a huge -60% sale at Amazon in August... which makes me wonder if Criterion knew that it will go out of print soon and did it (the sale) on purpose.
