I think you're right but honestly I'm not sure it matters. The Coens have always both written, directed, produced, and edited all their films. Up until fairly recently there was a DGA rule that kept them both from being credited. I'm sure if/when Criterion releases Blood Simple, Barton Fink and/or The Man Who Wasn't There they'll surely credit them both.

It's more or less been assumed that the title is Barton Fink since that one wasn't part of the big set Fox released. Speaking of Fox I hope this thread doesn't get more posts until Ulu Grosbard's name pops up.

Is there any conformation of those being released? They may just be sitting on a bonus feature for any future release or rerelease. Plus do supplement directors get their own pages?

As of yet, no credits from supplements receive pages, even when they are full films like Killer's Kiss or The Traveler. Besides, if this was to change for this particular documentary, it would likely be with the impending reissue of Autumn Sonata.

MGM's rights to Persona lapsed and presumably reverted back to Svensk, which theoretically makes it available to Criterion. When a feature-length doc gets its own disc (like the Cassavetes and Dreyer sets) the director does get a page.

Persona. It's probably still her most famous role, and it was their first collaboration.

Additionally, MGM is confirmed to have lost the rights for Persona, though not any of their other Bergman titles.

And if any new (to Criterion) Bergman is going to get the bells-and-whistles treatment, it's Persona.

I'd also think that attaching a big 'Ingmar and Liv' documentary to Cries and Whispers would come off as a weird slight to Andersson and Thulin.

It Happened One Night is playing on TCM as the Essential. It got me thinking as to what will be the Capra that CC releases.
It Happened One Night is definitely a possibility as it's a Columbia title. But there are other Capra titles with Columbia. Maybe a
Capra at Columbia box-set. You Can't Take it With You, IHON, Lost Horizon, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town and Mr. Smith Goes To Washington.
If they are releasing just a few than I could see the screw ball comedies as CC's choice.
And of course Grover Crisp is probably restoring these titles... Any thoughts?

There's quite a few of his Columbia productions from the 1920's that have still not surfaced on DVD (except for Say It with Sables, which is a lost film) and a couple of his early sound films as well. Here's what I've determined from my research:

Knowing Sony these days; I'm sure they gave Criterion all the high profile Capra titles.

Maybe this is overly optimistic but I wonder if the phantom page for Richard Lester is for A Hard Day's Night? The film is owned by producer Walter Shenson's estate. It was with Miramax for years. Lionsgate reissued it on dvd a few years back as part of their Miramax deal. It's quietly disappeared and is commanding big bucks from third party sellers. Miramax has a listing of all their titles on their website and the film is no longer listed in their catalog. Former Criterion laserdisc; phantom page; rights seem to have changed hands....hmm. I'm sure there are/were lots of companies interested in bidding for this title.

I'm sure it's something Capital Records/Apple will release themselves. They've done three of the Beatles features already and out of anyone bidding for the rights, they're the ones with the money to do it.

The academy premiered a new photochemical restoration of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington four or five years ago for their 1939 festival. Grover Crisp introduced it, iirc. Fucking gorgeous print, the best looking film print I've seen of any feature from the 30s.

You can still get the Canadian release for reasonable prices, but I will warn you that it's 1080i.
