I imagine that there will be some first wave of DF "upgrades" for best selling titles (I wouldn't be surprised if they announce Seven Samurai next month, for instance), since I'm sure Breathless is also a major seller for them, but that will most lilkely dries out, right ?
I'm also surprised with this "upgrade" being counted as a regular upgrade, because Breathless was on top of all the announced releases.

Well, assuming that Criterion only had half an hour of work left to do on their deluxe dual format release of
Out 1, maybe they just threw in the towel and said, "what the hell, let's rerelease
The 400 Blows instead."

Makes sense to put out Breaking The Waves when Magnoila release Nymphomaniac Pts 1 & 2 theatrically and on VOD; personally I am very ambivalent about the film but it'll make others happy. Will definitely blind-buy the Siegel and probably Master of the House too.

The extras seem fairly robust for this month, it's worth noting. So while there's not an enormous amount of releases, they're all substantial.

There's a snippet of a Q+A with the Quay brothers at the 4 min. mark in which they talk about their visit to the Criterion offices. The Quay brothers mention that they've talked with Criterion about putting out a release of their more recent work. Sounds pretty informal at this point, so don't look for a release anytime soon. (if ever)

Well we know Criterion loves experimental work.

Now if only somehow they could be forced to release the full Brakhage and Frampton I'd die happy.

I agree, two of my favorite sets in the collection. Whenever I'm stressed I watch Lemon, quick film that really centers me. (Nostalgia) seems to have the same effect.

Fully agreed. This is the first month since La Notte came out that had a new release I don't plan on immediately picking up at the next B&N sale (I'm not counting the barebones Blue is the Warmest Color as a release; as far as I'm concerned it's just a hint, like a newsletter clue, that the movie will be released in the future)

It also helps that they said that they'll release an expanded edition at a later date on the film's entry page on Criterion.com.

Criterion are also reprinting Night of the Hunter. It doesn't seem to be a dual format release. I assume they are just dropping the digipack. It's another title that was recently "discontinued". Street date is April.8th

Yeah, if they were planning a simple repackaging for April, like 400 Blows, they would have probably announced it yesterday. Seems like a mix-up to me. That's what you get for pilfering a famous title!
