The cover lists the "BRD-Kinofassung" as an extra. I take it to be the German dub intended for the West German market, listed as an extra to differentiate it from the main feature, a French-Italian-East German co-production.

The director originally wanted a 5 hour 15 minute, two-part film, but later accepted a shorter version. The CNC initially announced a 4 hour 2 minute run time.

Awesome. I know TT had to cancel their release because there weren't good enough elements for them to release it. Hopefully someone puts it out on Blu-ray now!

Kino's been sitting on the Los Olivdados rights for a while. Don't know if the restoration being WCP will complicate that, but I hope it gets released speedily by worry I whoever does.

Gance´s La Roue has been newly restored, and now runs seven hours. 14 reels of camera negative (out of a total of 32 reels) have been utilized, though these reels have been reedited by Gance following first run showings. The original music list has also been used as a source for music reconstruction.
A showing with live music in Berlin is announced for September 2019, followed by showings on two nights on ARTE Channel, October 28 and November 4, 2019.
A DVD release will follow.

I doubt it will have the original ending. I feel like the Kubrick estate would ask not to have it a la Pie fight. However, I wouldn’t be shocked in that it has the original ending due to the hardcore fans out there who want to see it.

Less is more when it comes to The Shining. It's become a thing in the last few years to misleadingly promote the U.S. theatrical cut as an extended cut when screened in the UK/Europe. The 119 min European cut is best IMO and as close to a definitive Director's cut out of the different versions.

So it seems that the West German version is the one Olive released on Blu, judging by the runtime.

One customer review on German Amazon indicates that this Blu looks like a DVD master converted to blu.

They're also premiering a 2K restoration of The Monkey King/Havoc in Heaven that's actually faithful to the original, unlike the dreadful 40th anniversary "restoration." Hopefully this will finally obviate the need for the patched-together fan restoration that is so far the only way to get a decent version of the original cut on video.

Speaking of Japanese classics, SIFF will also screen Yôji Yamada's Am I Trying and Tora-san's Love Call (the first and eighth installments of the famous Tora-san series) in 4K restorations. According to the press material, all 49 Tora-san films have been digitized and restored by Shochiku in the past two years.

That's good news, since AnimEigo's US DVD set only ever reached one volume, containing the first four Tora-san films.
