So if we have marry-s is their a similar pun for R and T ? All I can think of is Lodge-R which doesn't visually fit like marry-s

well, maybe that clue with the X-bottle and the other thing on the left, did refer to "Arsenic and Old Lace". I hope so!

So in the sillyness spirit of they're all double clues, and sorry this is sure to irritate folks that generally hate the fun of the new years clue:
1. the receding Room or school hallway or wedding hall = a Wedding / Clueless
2. The unfolded map or window (but the window isn't drawn to match the perspective of the room, so probably a map) of a tree, road, sunrise (or sunset) and birds = Tree of Life / Sunrise
3. Puerto Rican flags with music = West Side Story / Buena Vista Social Club
4. Puerto Rican flags = I am Cuba / Memories of Underdevelopment
5. Missing "D" pan = dheepan / Missing
6. Dancing Ghost on the west side of the clue = Ghost World / The Ghost Goes West
7. Sixteen shining candles = Sixteen Candles / Barry Lyndon
8. Shining "?" Box = Mysterious object at Noon / Pulp Fiction
9. Clock at midnight or noon with line pointing to four = Midnight / Be'four' midnight
10. Caesar statue hailing = Cesar / Hail, Caesar!
11. Fanny pack = Fanny / Roman Holiday
12. Bridal "S" with no arms = Marius / Princess Bride
13. Flowers on the dress = Daisies / ?
14. Bowtie wearing "R" groom hailing = A Harold Lloyd release / Polyester
15. Stalk of Corn behind the R = Stalker / ?
16. "T" with a hand hailing = 5000 fingers of dr. T / ?
17. "They 8pm-5am" tombstone = They live by Night / Night of the Living Dead
18. Jeanne Dielman standing behind a box = Jeanne Dielman / Akerman box set
19. Bottle with "X X" = Scarface / ?
20. Little heart = The Love Witch / ?
21. oddly shaped object in front of the heart, a mitten? = ? / ?
22. noodles or string or yarn Dielman is handling = ? / ?
23. D pan holding "hot" ramen and chopsticks = tampopo / ?
24. Candle on top of the flagpole dripping wax = ? / ?

Surely, based on the orientation of the sun, the ghost is either to the south or north (depending on if it's rising or setting?)

I'm surprised there are any question marks at all in the above post since you are obviously not afraid of making wild guesses.

Andrei Rublev, 205 minute cut with the horse's gruesome death

It's really just the 'T' we're truly missing at this point, right?

The notes in the drawing could be Ken Russell's THE MUSIC LOVERS?

Good catch with the Ozu! That's the window clue finally resolved then.
Some of these are only solved after they've been released. It does look like the waving T was a clue for Othello. Still a few things unresolved, but Criterion is plowing through the clues, so perhaps we'll find out soon enough.

I'm happy about
Good Morning (and its inclusion of
I Was Born But... on blu-ray!) but still want to think that was a multi-clue which might include
The Tree of Life and/or
Sunrise.

About the bottle with the poison markings--might it be as simple as La Poison, the Sascha Guitry film?

That is what I think too. La Poison is on Filmstruck on the Criterion channel. All the Arsenic and Old Lace speculation seems to be wishful thinking for a much better, but far less likely film.

Except it's not poison but booze?

You're right in that googling for Cartoon Symbols for Liquor turns up the XXX marking. But the Cartoon Symbols for Poison, if you omit the death's head, often have the crossbones in an X. For some reason the poison came to my mind first. Maybe I remember it that way because it was more common in my childhood, which is probably more distant than yours.

If that bottle is supposed to be booze, I wonder if perhaps they may have got rights back to The Bank Dick from Universal and an upgrade is coming.

Having some of the same issues with this thread that we are with the monthly one re: frequent bumps to stretch the limits of plausibility in order to re-guess clues that've been all but figured out already. Locking this unless there's a new revelation warranting an unlock, otherwise, see you in 2018!
To expand on what I said above: If you've got something you feel needs to be said here that hasn't been touched upon in the previous pages of discussion, PM a moderator with it and we'll either unlock the topic or tell you why it probably isn't cause for unlocking it.
