I don't know if I want to be a completist when it comes to TV DVD's. There are DVD's of TV shows in which I'd want it all but there are ones like The X-Files which, in my opinion, is buy worthy only for the first 5 seasons where they put out some of the best stuff television has put out period. But the rest sadly fall short.

I had stopped watching The Sopranos some time ago due to the ineptness of the local network and their decision to program the show at 11.30pm rather than the quality of the show! Given it is now finished, I plan on getting all six seasons of Sopranos and watching it from the beginning over a few weeks. Hopefully, the final season will be available on DVD soon.

I don't know what this is, but I'd like the center square to block please. With a side order of KISS, Donny and Marie, Witchie-Poo, and Billy Barty.

Paul's second wish he's a sheik trying to woo a kidnapped beauty (Florence Henderson) only to be interrupted by Tim Conway as a Foreign Legion scout sent in to save Florence from Paul. In the third wish, Lynde allows the witches to make a choice and they wish go to a disco. At the disco, Florence Henderson returns to sing a disco version of "That Old Black Magic." Paul is also treated to three performances from KISS. They perform Detroit Rock City, Beth and King of the Night Time World -- and they engage in a comic exchange with the star after Margaret Hamilton introduces the band to Paul.

The show ends with the entire cast assembling for a performance of "Disco Baby" by Lynde and Roz Kelly.
An uncredited remake of Simon of the Desert?

Probably not too long after The Ten finally gets to my town. Seriously great news and all thanks to amazing fantastic new free market economy.

I hope it includes the CBS primetime special they did around the time the show was ending...

Aside from finishing up a couple of series (Sopranos, the Shield, and Seinfeld as they come along), I think my TV DVDs are pretty much set. I own the ones I really like, and despite the avalanche of available shows now, I haven't found much else necessary to own. Here's what I have:

The Shield 1 - 5
Sopranos 1 - 5 (waiting for a deal on 6.1 and .2)
Homicide: Complete Series set
Band of Brothers
The X-Files 1 - 9
Firefly
Freaks & Geeks
Undeclared
Seinfeld 1 - 8
Curb Your Enthusiasm 1 - 5
Arrested Development 1 - 3
Ned & Stacey (would like to finish this off, but Sony doesn't seem interested in releasing the final season)
Honeymooners: Classic 39
Mr. Show 1 - 4
I'm Alan Partridge 1 + 2
The Office (BBC) complete series
Extras 1 + 2
Spaced complete series
Father Ted complete series

I'd like the pick up the complete Black Books set (again) sometime, and am looking forward to It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia coming up. Might grab Battlestar Galactica on HD once the whole thing is available.

I sat down and watched a couple of episodes of The Smurfs on TV recently. It was the first time in years that I'd seen any episodes all the way through, and I have to say that they haven't held up very well over the years. I used to love them as a kid, but now I'm surprised at how repetitive and cheaply made they were. They certainly don't hold up as well as the original comics by Peyo.

Okay...

The second best drama series to ever air on American TV, behind (and sometimes it's not far behind at all) Homicide.

Happy?

Seconded. And FWIW, it's far better than Homicide, which drove me up the wall by the director's obsessive need to shoot "dramatic" moments three times, or to repeat the shot three times, whichever you prefer. In terms of complexity of storyline, as well as successfully juggling so many competing characters, motivations, etc., The Wire wins hands-down.

I tend to agree. It's just that I've had Homicide at the top of my list for so long, and I love those characters and their arc so much, it's hard for me to take it off the top spot.

Well, HBO's best show is called "The Wire", but why quibble.
"Conchords" is an absolute delight and I am even willing to prostrate myself and rely on the power of prayer (the law of averages says it has to work sometime) in the hope of a second season.

No need, a second season of what is by far HBO's best show has already been confirmed.
