I'm guessing that each of the Blank discs will use up more space than each of the Tati ones, but yes, one set has three discs and the other seven (on the Blu-ray).

Is that the dual format price and they never corrected it back to the standard 79.99 for three disc sets when they dropped DF?

They never charged extra for dual formats though.

Could this be a typo, I mean the SRP? Somebody should start bombarding their FB page! It has been helpful in the past. Honestly, my heart will bleed to pay 75 bucks for 3 discs (after BN 50% off), especially when I don't even know anything about his work, but willing to experiment with my hard earned money.

The box sets were priced higher as df. Prior to df a three disc bluray set like Scorsese wcf was always 79.99.

5 and 6 disc sets were 99.99.

Above that was 124.99 price tier for 7 and 8 disc sets.

This has already been very well calculated in the "Criterion goes DF" topic : WCF is 3 discs but 6 movies, which can explain the higher price.

Most of them aren't exactly features, but yes, the licensing costs are the most likely explanation for the cost of the set.

Yeah, I agree that the runtimes make them difficult to call "features," but I meant feature in the sense that there are 14 main films that the boxset is selling, and to differentiate them from the shorts.

What was the last lower tier priced Criterion Blu-Ray before Bitter Rice? I had thought they'd abandoned the practice, though I applaud the label for bringing it back

Blue is the Warmest Color was $24.95, but that was a special case. The Uninvited was as well along with the Witch one, but that was after everyone bitched those ones were originally priced $39.95.

I don't know if Jellyfish Eyes counts since they were obviously just dumping that one.

Prior to that were early 2013 releases like Ballad of Narayama and Gate of Hell. I somewhat suspect though that this was just a one time thing to assure Murakami that no, we didn't just lower tier your movie because it's bad, here is a respectable foreign movie with lots of large-chested women that is also lower tier.
