Alexander the Great is a wayyyyyyy old phantom page for a movie way out of Criterion's wheelhouse and which is already out via Twilight Time. I think we eventually agreed it was the product of one of the designers testing out site features years ago

It's the same Shinarbaev film.

There's also test film (2010) and Murderous Maids (2000), which has a cover of sorts.

My browser is taking forever to load Murderous Maids, so I am going to save myself some time and state that Come and See is the only one coming from these, it seems, test films.

Murderous Maids was always there, I think. It was part of the Rialto box.

My gosh, you're right---first time hearing of the film and director. They really slid that one between Godard and Bresson.

It was an hVe release, which of course used to be the label for Janus acquisitions deemed unworthy of Criterion (and some if not most of those calls were absurd). And then it found its way into the big box regardless!

Domino I agree about the absurdity of some of those hVe titles not meeting the criterion criteria. Isn't Cure getting a Criterion release soon? That was such an odd choice to dump on hVe but I also always wondered why All About Lily Chou-Chou was dumped as well. I'm still wishing for the latter to get a proper CC release.

hVe released a lot of titles that didn't belong to Janus Films, and All About Lily Chou-Chou was one of those non-Janus titles.

Apologies if I posted this in the wrong section. I noticed that an Ingmar Bergman's Cinema box set appeared on the website in the Coming Soon section for a few minutes. I came here to see if anyone had mentioned it and it had disappeared when I went back to check. I can't remember all of the details but the thumbnail image was for The Rite. It has a 200 plus booklet and all of the eclipse titles were in there (they had the wacky c instead of the eclipse e) plus all of the current Bergman movies that are already included in the collection. I noticed the Hour of the Wolf, Shame, The Rite, The Serpent's Egg, Faro Document, From the Life of the Marionettes, Saraband and The Silence from the 1 minute quick glance that I had. Plus a new 4k restoration of the Seventh Seal. I think it said available for purchase on July. 20th but I assume that must have been a mistake and it may be being released on the 20th October. The thumbnail appeared between sex, lies and videotape and A Matter of Life and Death.

No, that doesn’t sound right. Not happening.

To be fair, they did announce the Olympics box outside of the usual 15th of the month, and mpippia's details are so specific that I doubt we're being put on

The one thing that makes me skeptical is the date - October 20th isn’t a Tuesday, and July 20th has no relevance at all. Although if this means announcements on Saturday this month, I’m all for it.

I figured if they did a set that it would be barebones... but this is a game changer. I'm just thinking of all the shelf space I save with this.
