It's been a while since the last Chaplin, so I'll throw my hat into that ring.

Still waiting for the
Transformers trilogy. Dreamworks/Parmount releasing the third one with no special features is obviously a sign that Criterion is working on it. :-k

I'm wondering whether the David Leans may be due for a Blu upgrade. I'd personally like Brief Encounter more (maybe with a new-to-the-Collection release of In Which We Serve or Blithe Spirit while my head is in the speculative clouds!) but assume if this does happen then it would more likely be the Great Expectations/Oliver Twist Leans.

doh I completely forgot about the Nanook and Godzilla clues.
David Lean upgrades would make me happier than any of the other randomness I guessed above.

Has anything but Brief Encounter shown up on Blu Ray elsewhere? (Summertime/Great Expectations/Oliver Twist ?)

Great Expectations was released in 2008 in the UK on a region-free ITV BD.

City Lights
Belle de Jour
Le Trou
After Hours (why not? And in Blu-Ray it'd be great)
upgrades to Blu:
Viridiana
Cléo de 5 à 7
Le Samourai

Is there a reason that everyone is going with City Lights for the next Chaplin?
I saw the new, restored print of The Gold Rush (with Cineteca Bologna + CC in the opening credits) yesterday at NYFF with live score by members of the NY Philharmonic. So, that one is forthcoming obviously, I just may have missed a clue about City Lights coming first.

Because it's Warners. You're aware CC lost the rights to
Le Trou?

I bought Le trou the other day, so you can thank me if Criterion regained the rights and decided to release a Blu-ray. You can also hail rrenault's prescience regarding the total collapse of the Studio Canal/Lionsgate/etc. deal.

Thought it'd be too soon for a World on a Wire announcement, but apparently the last tour date for the Janus run is Jan 14.

I'm just ready for more Fassbinder to enter, as I got 2 on my guessing list. I think it's been a good amount of time. I can see Weekend coming around the end of Spring.

Criterion told someone to expect
City Lights sooner rather than later or something to that effect.

Have the blu-ray copy of "Great Expectations"...great looking blu-ray and would recomend anybody who loves the film to buy it. Speaking of Lean i am sure Columbia will release "Lawrence Of Arabia" on blu-ray next year for it's 50th anniversary and did see a sneak preview when it was shown on one of the HD movie channels a couple of months ago.

I don't know if it really works like that. The theater where I work is playing World on a Wire in December, but sometimes we play newly-restored Janus titles a year before they come out on CC (such was the case with the Phantom Carriage) and sometimes we even end up playing something after the disc is out, which will perhaps be the case for Weekend (we definitely won't slot it until July 2012 at the earliest, since we've programmed our monthly Janus screening through the end of the fiscal year, though we plan to play Weekend at some point). All theaters have different means of scheduling and different patterns of programming and something like World on a Wire could be played in a run as a new restoration print or as a one-off repertory screening, which would not be limited to a certain timeframe. Something like Le Havre, which is a new release, wouldn't necessarily operate on the same model that I'm suggesting, but older titles could.

Not 100% that this is Criterion related, but a few hours ago
Sam Smith tweeted the following:
"Getting paid to look at Charlotte Rampling."
Upgrade of
The Night Porter?
Swimming Pool joining the collection?

Could be Max mon Amour? It would also incidentally mark another appearance by Pierre Etaix alongside Le Havre and the Eclipse set.

Night Porter is one of the few remaining non anamorphic dvds, iirc.
