It will be interesting to see if Criterion have been able to piece together a deal for a nice chunk of Sony/Columbia titles (like Image Entertainment and Twilight Time have done recently) Bottle Rocket, Repulsion, the BBS box, all seemed like one-off deals. If they did strike a deal with Columbia, I guess that would make Shampoo the title most likely to be the Ashby. I'm still crossing my fingers for a new wave of Paramount titles and Harold and Maude though.

Is everyone asleep? I can't believe this board hasn't lit up like a Christmas tree with this news. That Suman guy from FB is probably passed out cold with news of The Apu Trilogy actually being confirmed.

I kind of hope Ryan tweet some trailers for the announcements tonight.

Gorin Eclipse and World on a Wire would make my day.

Great news all around. Wonderful to finally have confirmation on Frampton and Apu sets, which are certain to be among the most important home video releases of 2012.

Congrats to Criterion on finally plugging two of their gaping auteurial holes as well. Any of the 70s Ashbys will be wonderful, and can't wait for Anatomy (which will almost certainly be 1.85). Hopefully, they'll involve Chris Fujiwara on the Preminger supplements

Really hoping that King and I thing was tongue in cheek!

I just puked in excitement at that. No exaggeration. After actually meeting the guy to finally also be able to see one of his films has me possibly more excited than Dom.

Criterion Cast wrote:Okay, enough of this January teasing. I can't find clips / trailers for some, but I've posted enough leads to figure them out this week.
Suggesting that one or more of the possibilities posted earlier this week will also likely be coming. These include (as speculation):

Man with a Movie Camera
Moment of Truth
Bitter Rice
The King and I

^He wrote "Certain" on Moment of Truth and Belle de Jour early this week. But everything else was guesses, which also included Wild Strawberries, Gold Rush, Putney Swope and World on a Wire to go along with your list.

Exactly. I was mostly just rounding up all of the likely / rumored titles that could happen. As I started collecting the various titles, I realized that the series of posts on Tumblr was more like "2012 titles" than specifically January stuff.
zitherstrings wrote:CCast = reliable. This Ozu Blu from last spring is superb.
I never predicted an Ozu Blu-ray. This all grew out of a trailer that I uploaded to YouTube, but never did anything with.

That being said, I would love an Ozu Blu-ray. (I've considered importing those BFI releases)

Ryan- does your post imply that you've heard that Criterion licensed The King and I from Fox? That's some pretty minor Rogers and Hammerstein and isn't the FOX dvd pretty loaded? Why would Criterion even bother?

Why bother? Couldn't you say the same thing about Easy Rider? I guess I don't have a good answer. Maybe nothing will come of it.

It just seems odd. I trust you and your sources; so I'm sure it is in the works. It must be a personal favorite of Becker/Turrell.
