Nope, I've got a solid seven titles since August and none of them have any editing/video component short of a title and a photo on the menu.
Gotcha. I thought you meant animation of the menu selections (how the Blu-rays have the tiers scroll out).

Don't ask me why I'm suddenly thinking about this, but whatever happened to the special edition of Blue is the Warmest Color? Did Criterion just bail on that prospect all together?

It certainly seems like it's been a long time, but the page on
Criterion's site still says it's coming.

It's barely been over a year. Expect the same delay as for Moonrise Kingdom, i.e. around 3 years.

I was wondering what the likelihood would be of Criterion releasing Paul Schrader's The Comfort Of Strangers? I love the film and it would make for a great pairing with a Mishima update. I think there was a dvd put out by Madacy Entertainment in 2004, but I don't think it's still in print and I'm not sure who hold the rights for it. MGM maybe?

DePalma used to prefer it that way, but I bet he'd prefer a 1.78 version now. The Criterion laserdisc was open-matte at his insistence, though I wouldn't be surprised to find that he's part of the aforementioned brigade!

Criterion doesn't do anything fast, add three or four years to your expected timeline.

Though wasn't the promised special edition of the film predicated on the anticipated 'director's cut' that seems to never have happened? The French 'limited collector's edition' came and went last year with the same old original cut (and very little else to recommend it: 8 minutes of deleted scenes and a half-hour interview - both of which were on the original 'prestige' edition of the 2013 release and would have been available for Criterion's release). If the sales of the initial edition were disappointing, Criterion might well have changed their mind. Of course, the announcement that a much more comprehensive edition was forthcoming would have encouraged disappointing sales: I know I've held off on picking up the existing release.

I imagine that, as awkward an announcement as it might be, it would be in Criterion's best interest to let the customers know if the comprehensive edition were canceled. It would keep people from avoiding the current release, to be sure.

I don't remember if this had been confirmed or simply speculated on but Chimes at Midnight (Orson Welles) is playing at the American Cinematheque in Los Angeles courtesy of Janus films:

Well if it's coming from Janus, hopefully that confirms the Criterion release.

If I missed this elsewhere, I apologize for double posting. It appears that
Out 1 will be released by Carlotta Films in theaters and on BD.

Hmm. I should have checked the date for that Chimes at Midnight screening before posting. It actually screened on March.27th at the American Cinematheque as part of the TCM Classic Film Festival. Chimes at Midnight will air on TCM in May. Janus had 3 other films at the TCM festival. Rififi; Limelight and Breaker Morant. Breaker Morant has been on the hulu channel for awhile. Maybe the gala at the TCM FIlm Festival means it'll be released in the fall.

That big fat lie was the (only) reason I joined Facebook. Maybe it was all just a grand conspiracy involving rival social networking sites - and Balzac.

Has there ever been the case where Janus owns the rights, but Criterion doesn't (at least in this post HVE world)? I know one might expect theatrical rights to not always transcend into Home Video rights, but I don't think I've seen this happen with Janus/Criterion to my knowledge (or is/was Tristana an example?)
I also thought Rififi was with Rialto, not Janus.
Oh well. Bring on all the Orson Welles we can handle.

This one's an extreme stretch, but the thought just came to me; could Moonrise Kingdom's delay to be release it alongside/in a set with Grand Budapest Hotel? The price for Budapest's current release dropped super fast so I'd not be surprised to see it sooner than Moonrise came.

Well the Cannes Classic lineup (as usual) reveals some potential forthcoming titles:
New World Cinema Project titles (after like a 2 year hiatus):
Black Girl (1966)
Insiang (1976)
Upgrades:
Elevator to the Gallows
Ivan the Terrible 1&2
Hulu titles:
Hotel du Nord
The Story of the Last Chrysanthemum
Rumored:
Rabid Dogs
Rocco and His Brothers (or was that image posted from The Killers? Either way, Criterion likely picked up the rights from the former Image library).

Also a special screening of the new 4K resto of Z, which is pretty clearly going to come eventually.
