I don't know whether this is of interest for you, swo, but you can find SoS on Youtube here. The part, which had been missing some weeks ago, has obviously been added ...

Eisenstein's Strike and Tarkovsky's Stalker have just been put up, as an adaptation of Uncle Vanya by Andrei Konchalovsky (who would go on to make Runaway Train and Tango & Cash in the US).

They can't upload it as it is not a Mosfilm film.knives wrote:Was The Childhood of Maxim Gorky ever uploaded?
If you want to see how Soviets saw USA in the late 1940's, watch Romm's The Russian Question. A fascinating propaganda that mostly takes place in US. But his 9 Days of One Year is a better movie.

Mosfilm has put Traktoristy up themselves now, but unfortunately it is one of a recent batch without subtitles, so no luck yet!MichaelB wrote:Fans of the documentary East Side Story might be very interested to hear that this list includes many of the famous/notorious Stalinist socialist musicals, including The Enchanted Way, The Jolly Fellows, Kuban Cossacks and Volga-Volga, though sadly not Tractor Drivers (which you can find elsewhere on YouTube, but without subtitles).
