The nearest 1.33:1 cap that matches a Beaver one I can find is this one, which shows that we gain on both sides, but only very slightly (assuming the camera hasn't moved between frames, as they're not exact).

edit: Gary has added a couple of comparisons now also showing a clear gain on the sides, albeit ones slight enough to make little perceptible difference in motion.

No gain on the sides, just a straight widescreen matte of the Academy

There is clearly gain on the sides even in your own comparisons. It's just very slight.

Oh gee, golly well that .05% changes everything. I think "clearly" is not the word you're looking for-- perhaps "imperceptibly"

Well I never said it changed anything.

I've just seem some examples of the stunning new Blu-ray of SABRINA.

For the first time since the original theatrical play-dates nearly sixty years ago, Billy Wilder's compositions and Charles Lang Jr.'s cinematography are seen in the correct aspect ratio.

Kudo's to Ned Price, George Feltenstein and the outstanding technicians at Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging for trusting the primary source materials and presenting this film in the directors intended widescreen version.
