I'm so happy this can now be put to bed.
Why?

Just personal bias. If QT is going to limit himself to ten films, I'd prefer he stick with his original material (Yes, I know Jackie Brown was based on Rum Punch). I think OUaTiH is a masterpiece. If that was his 10th, I would envision him riding off into the sunset in glory. I'm excited to how he will conclude his career not locked into a beloved franchise box. I'm not saying it wouldn't have been great, just talking about his self-imposed career bracket.

I wouldn't mind if he stopped here either, but he literally ended one of his best films with a declaration that it might be his masterpiece and kept on going, so as long as his own self-mythmaking is adding logs to the fire, I'm also okay with him making movies until he's Clint Eastwood's age. At this point, after a run of 8 excellent films after a promising debut one, I trust Tarantino to do whatever he feels is best, even if it's a Star Trek project. He's promised to do many things through the years that haven't come to fruition, and I doubt it's unique to him - many authors and filmmakers probably feel spent after making a very good piece of work and don't know where the next idea is going to come from.
Really though, hat tip to this guy: He's in the unique position of being able to make almost any project with anyone he wants to make it with, has a family now, and his own repertory theater in a prime area of Los Angeles - he's right in between the toes of what must feel like his dream life. I'm happy for anybody who finds that kind of comfort for themselves.
