I thought the movie was entertaining, Egeron excellent, at times he had me convinced he was Elton John. It's a familiar rise/drugs/rehab/better-now arc but the framing device is effective in balancing that out. The songs sure sound great in Dolby.

The many musical numbers are imaginative though at times I felt I was watching a Broadway tryout. Taupin is given his just due, their scenes of artistic collaboration and emotional bonding are the movies best.
