Not sure if it was confirmed or not, but Away is presented in 4K on the UHD, though with Dolby Digital audio.

judging from your review, this seems like one of the clear release of the year contenders. great job by Criterion and Zilbalodis to load this up, given it's popularity, widespread acclaim and success. can't wait to get my hands on it in the flash sale
obviously it's a little more involved considering it's animation, but this should be the model for contemporary releases. it seems to cover both the film and the director's backstory to an impressive degree

No surprise but the 4K looks incredible and is one of the best releases of the year. An all timer reference disc.

Well... wow. Exceptional film.
I'm biased, because I'm totally a dog person, and one of my dogs is a Carolina Dog, which is basically a dog for someone who really wants a cat. That said, I can't tolerate anything in the same zip code as animal cruelty, so I watched this with a knot in my stomach.
All my own neuroses aside, this was a terrific film, and I can't recall seeing such phenomenal wordless storytelling. In order to avoid anything resembling spoilers, I'll leave it at that.

We watched the bonus film Away for the first time tonight on 4K disc. My partner sat silent through the whole film, which is rare. I was as impressed with Away as I was with Flow. Just absolutely great.
