VAI has Pabst's
Don Quixote (with Feodor Chaliapin) listed for May 30 release.
The box cover seems to indicate French AND English versions of the film. I seem to remember VAI putting this out on VHS a while ago, but don't know the quality on that. They have put out some fabulous vintage classical music performances licensed from legit materials, but that's all I know of their track record.

I'm very curious about this release - the Japanese R2 is only the French version (with Japanese subs) and in so-so condition. Has anyone else seen any other RAI releases?

This thread is an incredible achievement. Many have recognized this before, but I feel compelled to express my gratitude to Brian (filmfansea). Not only did he continue his predecessor's effort, but enhanced it greatly. Thank you.

Totally agree. This thread has always been tops, and it's great to see it current again. I also dig the By Director listing. I'll probably pop into this thread twice as often just for that. Thanks sincerely.

Blind Husbands
Edition Filmmuseum 03
Blind Husbands, an erotic drama set in the alpine scenery of South Tyrol, still baffles its audiences through its precise visual language and the deep moral ambiguity that pervades the plot. Erich von Stroheim's directorial debut from 1919 here is presented in a gorgeous, tinted colour print and with original german-language intertitles.

June 16th Updates have been posted.
29 new entries
5 Revised release dates.
Grey Gardens 2-disc SE, which I listed last week as an August 22nd release (based on info at
Movies Unlimited), has been changed back to TBA since that date now seems unlikely and hasn't been confirmed by Criterion.
Have a nice weekend.

Lists have been updated as of July 1st.
30 new listings.
Not much of note this week in Region 1 but, over in the UK, three new Buñuel releases are in the works:
The Great Madcap / El Gran Calavera (1949) [? / R2 PAL UK] 23-Oct-2006
Ascent To Heaven (Mexican Bus Ride) / Subida al cielo (1952) [? / R2 PAL UK] 23-Oct-2006
Nazarin / NazarÃn (1959) [? / R2 PAL UK] 25-Sep-2006
I'm not sure who the distributor will be, but I'll assume it's Arrow, since they're also releasing Viridiana and The Exterminating Angel.
In other R2 news, Universal will be releasing a monster 18-disc Marlene Dietrich Collection (£150 suggested retail) on August 14th. Titles to be announced, but expected to include: Angel, Blonde Venus, Desire, Destry Rides Again, The Devil Is A Woman, Dishonored, The Flame Of New Orleans, Follow The Boys, A Foreign Affair, Golden Earrings, Morocco, Pittsburgh, The Scarlet Empress, Seven Sinners, Shanghai Express, The Song Of Songs, The Spoilers, and Touch Of Evil.
Keep those cards and letters coming...
