I think this is one of the best sequences of the film. It's like a documentary of how shitty and desperate life was under the Occupation, done under the nose of the Occupation censors, with Mifune blending in with the starving downtrodden on the streets of Tokyo. It's astounding.

A far FAR better sequence than the somewhat similarly extended "underworld" scene in High and Low.

Also announced today for separate 4K/Blu and standalone Blu releases on May 5.
