So Blindside, have you decided on anything yet? Going to go with a projector or did you see something else that caught your fancy? Even though I'm not looking to replace mine, I saw some new factory refurbished Optoma DV10 Movietimes are being sold for around $485 at some spots around the internet. If you don't want cables running everywhere and don't already have a receiver and speakers, this is a great deal.

Actually, the DV10's speakers are pretty weak and they distort at full volume. You really need an external amp and speakers to get a sound to match the picture. Even so, $485 is great value for that projector (and a heck of a lot less than I paid for it).

Can the DV10 play PAL disks with the built in player? I notice PAL compatibility in the spec sheet but didn't know if that applied to the player itself.

The one I bought certainly can. It plays PAL and NTSC natively (i.e. without conversion). The UK model is set to region 2 but there's an unofficial firmware upgrade that makes it region free.

Does anyone know anything about Lumenlab projectors? They're actually based out of the town where I live, but I knew nothing of them until today. It's not HD, but it seems to be a steal for the money - especially considering their replacement lamps are $35 (which sounds too good to be true).
