$5 more for footage of 5 songs from 1979 seems like an ok deal to me.
Actually the 5 songs listed above are the ones missing from the set - Joe Buck posted the setlist of the bonus DVD above.
Ahh, thanks for clarifying. I just picked the Best Buy version up, and it does say the 3rd disc is 90 minutes long. So I figured I'd misread something here.
Maybe Best Buy or whoever only wanted to shell out for 1 single layered disc as a bonus. And therefore edited the show to fit. ????
I've seen other "bonus discs" from them that had only a 10 or 15 minute featurette. (Indiana Jones box set) So this is a sizable bonus, yet incomplete.
I just rewatched the Isle of Wight concert tonight, what an incredible show - Tommy isn't necessarily my favorite set of Who songs, but this has a few moments of absolute transcendence. I can't even imagine being in the audience, just watching it at home I felt like I was witnessing something epochal when the backlights came on during "See Me Feel Me."
Is there some reason why they didn't present the full Isle of WIght show in it's original running order? Other than to make us buy it again in the future? Really bugged me. Fantastic show. I wish I knew where my CD was, I want to listen to it now.
My guess is that everything on the DVD is everything that was filmed. That particular festival had a lot of negative things going for it, as indicated by the documentary Message to Love.

Except that this isn't being sold as a "bonus disc" edition (i.e. with a free extra disc as a loss-leader enticement), but rather as a "Three-DVD Exclusive Edition" sold at a higher price than the standard two-disc version (which Best Buy also a sells) and with full Universal-branded artwork. Add to that the fact that the cut songs were some of the Who's biggest hits, and I smell an "uncut, full-length!" standalone version lurking down the road somewhere. Note, however, that I saw the Who's first two "farewell" tours back in the early 80s, so perhaps I'm a touch jaded about these things.
