Where is this man's honorary Oscar?
Well, when he gets it, I want to see him wrestle one of those life-size Oscar statues to the ground like the tree in
Virgin Spring... that'd be better than one-armed push-ups.

?!?!?!?! Was the webmaster the guy who stole Coppola's laptop?
Edit: Oh, I see! He's the original storyboard artist.

Boy, I sure hope this is better than the shit Marty's been pumping out recently.
It's frankly impossible to determine which is worse - the queasy 'gimme my Oscar' pandering of junk like GoNY & The Aviator, or the bloated, shoddy mediocrity of The Departed.
It'll be interesting to see whether Lehane's excellent story overcomes Marty's notoriously clumsy grasp of narrative. Judging by the news about the reshoots it doesn't sound as though it has.
Still, one lives in hope.

I had no idea this was a horror movie

That looks very creepy, but the line at the beginning, "It's a mental hospital....for the criminally insane," or however it went was so Shock Corridor I couldn't help laughing.

I had no idea that this many great actors are in it.

Agreed. The whole thing looks pretty campy to me. Marty back in Cape Fear mode, although I still hold slim hopes that this one will be better.

Me neither. Really took me by surprise. I suppose it's nice to see Scorsese working in a new genre (unless you count
Cape Fear), but I'd still rather see him do
Silence or another personal project over this. On the plus side, it sounded like the New England accents were less forced than in
The Departed.

I would say it's way more mystery than it is horror, which to my knowledge Martin's never done.

That trailer is incoherent as f***. Does Scorsese actually have a story to tell? Because that annoyingly noisy assemblage of random images doesn't exactly inspire confidence. I smell a stinker.

While I agree on the not inspiring confidence, this was a typical example of the sort of editing seen in trailers for thrillers these days, and more likely than not does not reflect the actual tone and content of the film.

It's a Scorsese movie, which is all that Gator needs to go on. If it were a Clint Eastwood movie, it would be a prima facie masterpiece.

Having read the script, I can say it starts as mystery, turns into horror territory, swerves as psychological thriller and ends up very nicely wrapped into a moody character piece.

just finished reading the novel......its a big let down from the juggernaut that was Mystic River. I HATED the surprise ending and felt it was just about as manipulating as an M. Night Shyamalan script. I honestly hope the movie will be a little bit more....sublte. Just feels like something Stephen King kinda wipes his ass with...

February 19th!? That's pushing the release back four months! Either this movie didn't test well or something really wacky happened.
