Sasha Grey to screen The Girlfriend Experience at my alma mater.
Shame they start ramping up the film events six years after I leave...

Universities seem to be casting the net
pretty wide when it comes to screening films these days.

Here's the
trailer (for all you Americans anyway).

Wow. As much as the poster didn't blow me away that trailer did. One of the best ever.

Is that Soderbergh on the drums at the end?

Could someone post a link to a non-US-only video when one emerges?
Thanks in advance!

That was fast!
Agree with JC that the trailer is far more intriguing than the (overrated) poster - my interest is definitely piqued...

I think it is, at least it sure looks like him.
I'm very excited for this film. The Guardian link I posted above says there will be a same-day DVD release, but I haven't heard it from any other source, does anyone know if the DVD release is a definite?

Yes, it's part of the same deal as Bubble.

That would've been cool, but it's most likely Ross Godfrey of Morcheeba (the dude on the right). He's scoring the film.

Some dude from Morcheeba is scoring a Soderbergh film? Well, I guess that's no less likely than someone from Pop Will Eat Itself becoming one of the most sought after composers in Hollywood!

Any idea how to get tickets or attend these things at Brandeis? They don't seem to be very well advertised, can't find any info on their website. I stumbled upon an Errol Morris screening a couple years ago, but apparently there's quite a few I'm missing.

There was a Morcheeba song in Traffic (the party scene where the kid ODs).

Trailer 2 is far more conventional. Glenn Kenny sighting at 00:48!

Antoine linked to it in the NFiP thread, but the
Soderbergh interview about this film in
Filmmaker magazine is worth pointing to again here.

I'm not sure if this is old news, but it was new news to me: This will not be released simultaneously on DVD like Bubble. The DVD comes out September 15 [-(

I saw this at the Tribeca Film Fest and found it excruciating to sit through, even though it's only 77 minutes. Sasha Grey has no screen presence--at least when she's not being sodomized in a gonzo porn movie--the other actors are dull, the script is non-existent, and Soderbergh's direction makes it seem he was as bored making it as I was watching it. Any movie where Glenn Kenny, of all people, gives the best performance is in serious trouble.

Have you seen Bubble? It gets started at the midpoint.

Too bad about the DVD thing. I'm still set to grab it on my DVR when it plays in May, however, which also pretty much guarantees someone will rip it for the web not long afterwards. Bad decision to wait so long for the DVD when you know it'll be "out there," I think.

$2000 an hour?
There's your justification for a top income tax bracket right there.

I can't help but wonder how much of an influence or role Claire Dolan had on this, especially considering Soderbergh is on close terms with Lodge Kerrigan.
